...back to what I was gonna post...

As for speed, you need 2 points right, my common sense tells so... but now, look at this (example on sliderule):

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=94608

"Formula: Own Speed : Sin Target AoB : : Target Speed : Sin Target Bearing"

I can't get how this works mathmatically. But if this works, by using cleverusername's method which provides an AoB, we actually need only single observation.

Intresting Jim!

I wish someone would write a "whiz-wheel and slide ruler TDC for dummies" topic.

Actualy, I'll do it my self if I can work it out....

*edit* Nope, Its beyond me with out learning a whole load of extra stuff.

This thread has a simple single observation method for when you are 90 degrees AOB and at dead stop 0kts.

I'll be interested to see how this differs.

For those of you guessing at how I'm going to calculate target speed, it's purely based off a single visual contact. It has nothing to do with the hydrophones, or waiting several minutes, or guessing it based on bow wake. It's honestly quite simple once you think about it. Feel free to keep guessing though!

Well it's a bit more than 24 hours...

I think he meant 240 hours.

Been waiting a week or so now, are the limitations of time and space too much?:rotfl:
