I agree that a fix should have happened! I just dont have the time to cruise around at 64X which is what I have to do during the day, much less 2X. I start to fall asleep!!! At night, I speed it up just to make some kind of head-way, but I'm probably missing out on 'Leigh light' aircraft. I have two kids and cant play a whole day, much less a weekend. AOD got aircraft right with slowing down the time; as far as I can remember... I hope this is fixed with SH4!

Makes no difference IMHO if you lower aircraft speed
You would still see Sunderlands and Catalinas at high TC if it was as they are a lot slower than fighters and bombers

TarJak 12-27-06 01:16 AM

There is a simple solution that I recently implemented using SH3Commander, I simply made 128TC the highest you can go. This way I don't miss much, but it does take a long time to cross the pond. It's all about compromises.

On shorter patrols I find it doesn't really impact the time taken to complete a patrol anyway. I like spending time taking sound checks for passing ships as I can hear a lot further than I can see.

I also don't see much lag as when I used to run at 1024 or higher TC when approaching a convoy or TF so I don't get much warning of them being spawned in my 3D sphere.

This is something I have benn thinking too. If it is possible to reduce the speed of aircraft to 7knots when they are going from waypoint to waypoint, but still have them move at the propper speed when they enter the 3d world then the problem would be solved!

Is this possible modders?

Ummm no :rotfl:
They have a min speed as well as a max speed
At 7 kts they would be falling out of the sky
There is no way of knowing when may they enter your 3d world

What about weather? no change in the weather this whole 1x patrol just lucky?

bigboywooly 12-27-06 11:14 AM

The weather changes in periods
One of the SH3 bugs is the time period resets when you save and reload
If you save when the weather is good then it will stay good for the next few days
Then you save again and it resets

As you play 1x the weather doesnt have chance to change before you save

Depending on the mod you are using the days till weather changes are around 6\7 days

IIRC the line - "WeatherRndInterval=6" controls this

This line is in all 3 campaign files - Scr\Rnd and Lnd

All 3 need to read the same

Try changing the settings to - say - WeatherRndInterval=0.3

Which SHOULD mean the weather changes every 8 hours - I think :rotfl:

Depends how long you play at a time for

I recommend only making the changes while in port just in case

Letum 12-27-06 11:16 AM

SH3's weather system is terrible!
A few lines of simple maths could have got a really good equation for generating random weather, but the SH3 Devs didn't do this.
Instead we have a very basic random weather generator that favors extremely stormy and extremely calm weather too much.

Anyway, the random weather generation depends on game time and not system time.
That means you have just been lucky!

Your unchanging weather is a problem with the way SH3 makes weather. The problem is that same at all TC levels.

*edit* Oh, yer - saving and loading the game is going to make the weather period reset like wooly said. If you are saving and loading the game more than once every weather period then the weather will never change.

codmander 12-27-06 12:05 PM

bummer yea 1x save/exit/continue all the time --this is no good almost in port will give that file adjustment a trail run when i shut down got some new hardware to install also ---new fan-- I run 3 to keep her cool

its a viic 12-27-06 12:38 PM

whuddya talkin bout?

I have my game setup so tc doesnt go any higher than 512. Doesnt seem to change anything. I know there are planes around when I hear depth charges/machine gun fire hitting my poor viic. ,, then the game slows down to 1tc. Dont get me started in rainy weather. never, never go over 64 tc in rain/fog.

Yes, it will have a chance to change every 24 hours. Of course it might "change" to exactly what it was before, in which case you will see no change.

bigboywooly 12-28-06 01:05 PM

Of course if you dont play for more than 24hours you will never see a change

codmander 12-28-06 04:41 PM

tryed it with 1 only thing that changed was the wind direction and not every day :hmm: tc- 4 days

so it may chamge or it may not-- ok guesss ill leave it and see what happens on my next patrol

Corsair 12-28-06 04:54 PM

You can try SH3 Weather... I use it and it gives a weather adapted to the time of your patrol (you even have a "Mediterranean" option ) Doesn't suppress storms though, I am in one since 5 days on the outskirts of the Bay of Biscay (around BF 47) Wind is turning but still blowing in the 30 knts... But it's November and I know the place IRL, that's no surprise...:D
