yep, true. the only problem is that this is a laptop and switching gfxcard to another one could be a big problem :) anyway, thanks for the fast reply.

and ofcourse, i should have thought about the gfxcard when i bought this laptop, but i couldnt afford any better laptop at the moment.

Your biggest problem is probably the same as mine.
The AMD driven Laptops use a driver refered to as "Cool and Quiet"
Meaning that the CPU ACTUALLY slows down when hot!!!:nope:
Mine is an AMD Turion 64 1.8 and I have checked it dropping
from 1.85 Ghz to .750 Ghz!!!!
Talk about Hammer time!!!

OK, I've found that SOME LapTops can disable Cool & Quiet in the BIOS at bootup.
Mine can't but if you see a setting for AUTO on CPU speed or some such
CHANGE IT!
Try a setting and if it don't work, try each one till it does or go back to AUTO.
This is a BIOS setting so you won't harm anything if it doesn't work by changeing it.
You can also try changeing your power setting in windows itself.
Some systems it seems to work on, again, not mine!!:nope:
And I am a LONG time Computer User that can do some stuff that even
guys FRESH outta school can't do!!

okey, thanks for the tip. gotta check the bios settings and power settings. but last time i was there i remember i thought that there was not much settings at all, so i doubt there is any for the cpu.

Since yours is a laptop and its hardware can't easily be upgraded, you might as well best effort for optimising system.

Do usual drill such as defrag etc. Use CCleaner to clean gabages. You should have enough free space in your harddrive.

Quit as many programs in background as possible: virus software, itunes helper (in background), messenger, print spooler (kill it till you do use a printer), remote connection (better kill ANYway), you may also have some server stuff... check them out.

Then don't use ugly default XP stupid blue big button thema and set it to classic thema. Kill all graphic eye candies of XP (this may not really related to game performance since the game runs on full screen but you'd feel more responsive system overal)

Now tweak your graphic settings.. (maybe not much you can do tho..)

If the stock game is already heavy to run, any of those super mods are heavier. Grahpically (and to some extent sound as well ) plain NYGM is much lighter than GWX or TGW. But it still IS heavier on CPU compare to stock game, so you see longer loading time compare to stock.

good luck

Oh by the way, I guess if you play 100% difficulty, perhaps it may make the game a biiiiit lighter...i guess ;) (don't shoot me it's just my speculation, but from a programmer point of view, not having the event camera, external view in sync, real time map update and auto cal for solution etc is a lot less work  (on second thought, some of "realistic something" may actually be harder, tho, heh) Oh, and of course, turn off gramo as well for the sake of performance gain :ping:

Laptop

I play the game on a latop, but I have 1gig of memory. I use the flightsimulator autostart (FSautostart) to clean out my memory and defrag it. I also run CCleaner often and defrag the hard drive as every time I check, it is the SHIII files that are fragmented, even tho windows says I don't have to defrag my HD. The 16 Km atmosphere is a frame rate killer, and the harbor traffic mod is also in harbor, so in GWX do not enable these. If you can, you need to tune your video card for performance and not quality. Set your particle density to as low as possible. Finally, if you have been good, maybe Santa will bring you 500 Mb of memory.
