If you set SHIII Commander TC to 1 for "When Enemy Plane(s) Appear", you can run TC at 256 or even 512 and have no problem seeing the enemy a/c attack. With plenty of time to CD, or shoot back..... if you're on the surface with your flak guns manned. I'm in Oct of 43 now and can't go anywhere without being hit on by the enemy while surfaced. Even the snorkle draws 'em in. Right now I'm after a convoy in AE 87 and have been attacked by B-24s and PBYs constantly..... and in flights of 6 to 8 even. Very frustrating if you need to reload from your external stores. :yep:
I have TC set to 1024 but only use a max of 256, with 512 for RTB only, as 1024 will change weather faster to very stormy I've found. At 256 my weather stays mostly the same for most of a patrol. But that also depends on the time of year as weather can get very nasty during hurricane season. ;) No, hurricanes aren't modeled in SHIII and I wouldn't want to be at sea in one either, unless I was submerged at 100 meters for the duration. I save many times during a patrol and have never had any problems continuing on. The only thing is sub damage that will make the shattering of dials when you reload.. as Corsair says. Andy you must have had something get corrupted. I've had that happen by adding a mod(and any mod can do it) by mistake during a patrol. Too much af a big hurry to get a skin in or some other grreat mod. That is the only way I've lost a career. Just make sure you backup your SHIII folder in My Documents every once in awhile, just to be safe. |
