Yes, to start where you want to start, you must:

a) Drag the base in the mission editor to where you want it to be, that is, EXACTLY where you want to start (make sure you drag the German placeholder if the base changed hands during the war)*

b) Grab the new lat/long coords and plug them into Flotilla.cfg at the appropriate place(s). The coords in Flotilla.cfg and the LND file MUST BE EXACTLY the same. Otherwise, you will most likely end up at 0' lat 0' long (ie just off the West African coast).

c) If you have an existing career, you will also need to update your Careers_0.cfg file for the next patrol.

*You can edit the LND mis file direct, but I think you'll find this the much easier way.

Thank you Jaeson

Thanks BigBoy... can you explain that ?

Are you saying the file wich determine the sub position and heading is the Flotilla.cfg ?

I was able to found... in example, Lorient coordinates into .LND files and into the Flotilla.cfg file.

Wich one is the file wich give the position to the sub ?

Many thanks for help.... :up::up:

Thanks a lot JScones... but if i am not wrong, this explanation is for to move the base, it is correct ?

But my problem is not to move the base, i am looking for how to move the sub into the sub pens.

redwine,
the naval base (it's position-"lat,long" & heading) in the LNd layer is the starting point of your sub as long as it matches the flottilla cfg

Redwine 11-30-06 07:59 PM

Well... tested and no way, changing the coordinates for .LND and Flotilla.cfg or only into .LND i appears at same place, into the pier terrace, far from the subpens, those values are not for the UWAC Lorient position.

The way to move the base is not an option, because all thing will remain in wrong position, like other ships and AAA places.

JScones 11-30-06 08:48 PM

Redwine, I think you may be confused between port location and base location. They are different.

Your safest bet is to use the Mission Editor yourself and move things around.

To help you, let's look at some piccys of the ME. For this example, we want to move you three pens to the left at St Nazaire.

Figure 1 - current starting location.
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/tmp/Image1.jpg

Figure 2 - click on German base and move where you want to start.
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/tmp/Image2.jpg

Note the Lat/Long (m) figures in the status bar and apply to all files as previously mentioned. IMPORTANT: The lat/long coords are linked to your mouse, not the selected unit. Therefore I would recommend that you save the LND file after making your change and then open the file in notepad, and copy the coords that were saved. Again, all it takes is one digit difference to break the whole thing.

Also, if you are fussy, expect some trial and error as you get the boat positioned exactly where you want it.

JScones 11-30-06 09:23 PM

The figures you want are the [m] figures.

But I would recommend that once you move the "base", SAVE the Campaign_LND.mis file.

THEN open it in notepad (or any text editor).

Do a search for "Nazaire" (or whatever base you changed), remembering that there may be numerous entries reflecting the changing of the base throughout the years.

When you find the entry that has Origin=German, look for the Long, Lat and Heading entries in the same block. They will contain the figures you are after. Use them everywhere else.

That's good to know. Thank you Jscones. I always used the last set of #'s (deg) when placing ports and lighthouses. just assumed same would true for naval base:oops: .

I'm going to stop giving advice on this subject and let the ones in the know handle it before I have people royally screwing up their files:lol:

Redwine 12-01-06 08:18 AM

Well... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...nanaWrench.gif i was able to do it ...

It is so hard to fit the sub inside the subpen, i use Type IX and it is so long, i cant put the stern so near the wall, and then my bow is visible from outside, and the B-24 detect me and attack me in the correct way, attempting to introduce the bomb across the subpen entry gate.

http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/8...sidehg4.th.jpg

http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/8052/bombbc5.th.jpg

I need to put the sub 2 or 3 meters back... because my bow is too visible from outside, but i can reach it, a smal movement with the mouse and the stern goes into the wall.

http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/9574/pen2ei9.th.jpg

What i cant understand is... why i need to change the coordinates into Flotilla.cfg file ? It works fine without to do it. :hmm:

Here the changes i made for Lorient :

If you don't change Flotilla.cfg, when you play careers and transfer to that base...well...you won't actually get to that base! ;)
