In GW there is an option to turn the mines and nets off when you install. There are a number of minefields a little way off the coast of britain although Winnie's Welcome Mat in the Bristol Channel is not really modelled probably because that would cause CTD's with so many mines.

Other than that best thing is just keep clear of the buggers as they are not friendly to anyone!

All in all, a successful enterprise then.

Here is what the mines look like in standard SHIII, as seen through a periscope:

I found these while trying to enter Liverpool harbor. After seeing them, I changed my mind and backed out to sea. :smug:

Well one way is to "Use the force reach out with your feelings" or edit your sub's files so you have a massive number of hit points (Armor, Hull Integerity, what ever you want to call it.) Otherwise go find a slow merchant heading toward the port of choice match speeds and get under him if need be slow down a bit carefuly raise the snorkel (perferably at night) recharge and then get back into position. Mine you its unproven. (Bad joke intended)

what about taking precautions to avoid mines? Can't you dive beneath them--at what depth can you avoid a mine (mininum since harbors will be shallow.)? Also I've heard that in GW 1.1a you can run on the surface in good weather and have no fear of striking a mine.
