Manual plotting always seemed to be daunting until I learned it. It's really a breeze. High school math class is harder.

Oh and welcome.

:damn: :o

Wolves at War doesn't require you to use MAX realism, just 100%, which in NYGM doesn't mean everything turned on.

You do not have to use manual targeting for Wolves at War. The settings to get 100% realism are:
  • Limited Batteries
  • Limited Compressed Air
  • Limited O2
  • Limited Fuel
  • Realistic Vulnerability
  • Realistic Repair Times
  • Realistic Ship Sinking Times
  • Realistic Sensors
  • Dud Torpedoes
  • Realistic Reload Times
The major impact of 100% realism is that you cannot ESC / Return To Base, you need to dock to finish a patrol. So that makes the fuel settings more important.

The view features are to be turned off as well, but really YOU having fun is more important than turning off features. If you like to have your external camera on, leave it on, no one would be the wiser. :) Just don't get crazy and leave off everything, since that would just ruin your experience really. Just play as difficult as you can and enjoy yourself.

It's really just a roleplaying simulation where you take the part of a u-boot captain. You file a report before and after your patrol, perhaps a daily log. You keep track of your ship sinkings and tonnage and are awarded medals and promotions based on that. All it takes is 1 patrol in campaign mode every 3 weeks real time.

It's pretty fun I think. :)
