You guys are forgetting that computer gaming is a fairly recent phenomenon. Even more recent is the number of people who actually play video/computer games. When most of us started, computer games were a niche market, and so many of them catered to the geeks who enjoyed things like Dungeons and Dragons and other highly technical games. Those days are gone. The people remain, but they are no longer where the money is. The money is in casual games that appeal to the masses and enormous blockbuster games that bring the hard-core gamers out (and there's a lot of them). But there's a lot of these "little" games and Flash games because the development cost is low and if a programmer strikes a nerve he can become very wealthy. I suggest if you're expecting an intricate game, like most of you hope for, hang your hat on another publisher/developer because most of these large companies are going to cater to the masses, and subsims are definitely a niche market. Theoretically speaking you guys have the means to bring to market the Submarine simulator you've all been longing for. Pool your resources and hire some professionals to build it. Who better to drive the development of the ultimate subsim than Neal and you guys who frequent this site.

Sub Sims

I've read through these posts and see there's alot of dislike for the flashgames and a desire to find more sim players. Well, here's your chance :). I would love to find a sim that is just as exciting after playing for 6 months as it was the first week. I don't like the Farmville type games at all. I've been playing MMO's and, quite frankly, I suck at them. I don't have the typing skills serious gamers have so I am basically fodder. I would love to find a PC game that is immersive and isn't old hat in just a few months. I read pros and cons about Silent Hunter 4 and DW. Most are very old posts from 2005-2006. Is there a sub sim (or any other) that is exciting and imerrsive out there?

WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:

I'm still playing SH4 after almost six years, and I'm still playing SH3 after almost eight years. I still sometimes play SH1 after sixteen years, and I even put Aces Of The Deep on from time to time, and it's eighteen years old.

On the topic of 'any other' its hard to beat either Arma2 (plus expansions & mods) or anything from Eagle Dynamics/DCS World (i.e. BlackShark2, A10-C or FC3).

Next year we should have Arma3 and X Rebirth (if you are open to space sims), and of course Silent Hunter Online plus the continued mod support for previous SH titles.
