Im tempted to go dive into the SC file structure and look around. I dont know how embedded graphics and sub type settings are...but knowing what the sonar systems should look like is inspiring enough to go try.

To make a Skipjack iface, youd have to modify image and color components of sonar displays, and mix and match stations...

Hmmm not an easy thing to do but certenly could be done.

Inside the interface folders are the files you want, look at this thread it discribes how to compress and compress the files in question (Pay attention to my post):

With photoshop you could make all the interfaces have the same look as another system but their functionality would be the same (IE the buttions would be in the same place and do the same things). When you get to moving stuff then it becomes uncharted waters, its not something anyone has tried.

A repainted Akula interface would be the best bet I think.

I remember my senior chief in charge of sonar school in '94 telling us stories of him utilizing a 'turn dial' type of sonar system upgraded from WW2. I can't remember which BQR# it was, but we were realizing why, as students, we listened to hours of ship recordings so that our ears were trained.
