UPDATE 2006-08-03: After a long hiatus, I decided it's time that Sh3Gen 0.7.0 is released. It wraps up a long list of changes I made before the summer, as well as one major new feature, the mission objectives. I think it's a comprehensive update, at least if you are used to the previous versions.
New features: Completely new "real" mission objectives. Depending on the situation, you will be given a randomized mission order that is derived from real game data. This has been a long standing project of mine, and I have finally warapped it up. While not as comprehensive as I initially wanted, it offers a great variety - over 20 different mission types ranging from the usual patrol to sneaking into spanish ports and taking on passengers, as well as profane tasks like weather reports. There are some more ideas that I couldn't squeeze into this release, more about this later. The feature is pretty powerful, because with the randomized targets there is a near infinite amount of missions, and I hope that the first release is already offering a good deal of interest to the game. Revised version 1.1 of standing orders. Brad and Georg have sifted through the orders, removed typos and imporved the text in general. Improvements to the interface. There are now a lot of new options to switch off modules, like the LND layer, mission objectives, operational orders, intelligence and general situation section. Imporved handling of disabled campaign layers. In the last release, Sh3Gen would simply skip disabled layers. Now they will be read, but not output in the war diary and map. The big advantage is that it can use them now for internal assessments, important if you want to see only targets from Campaign.SCR and still get the full features. As usual you can get the new version from here: http://www.global-explorer.de/contentpage_download.htm As of today, it is ranked as "beta" - I need people to test it because it has only gone through the most basic testing - because0.6 was very stable, and I haven't changed much in the output routines. But as usual I need experiences, observations, especially report any quirks with the new mission objectives. GE |

Thanks,
GlobalExplorer. I have downloaded and will immediately start using. I really doubt that there will be any problems, as the last program was perfect. |
Dont leave home without it.
Thanks |
Playing around with the program yesterday revealed some small issues
-Mission Objective "Patrol XY and distract the .. operating there from .. etc .. " will not be recognized as Sh3Gen entry and carried over from then on, possible messing up your patrol log. FIX: If you're brave, you can manually remove the entry from <savegame>.clg file. -Checkbox WarDiary seems not to work correctly - War Diary will still be written. FIX: Use the individual checkboxes controlling WD output, which are working well. -Wardiary still showing up info in summary screen though campaign layers disabled. This is not really a problem as the info will not be written into the savegame. I will try to fix them soon. Mind that my internet access is limited so it can take some time. If you encounter mission objectives that are somehow broken please report them to me. I am not going to test them for this purpose because it takes too much time relaunching SHIII and loading the savegames. |
2006-08-12: Version 0.7.1 released some minutes ago.
It's raining cat's and dogs in bavaria so here we go: http://www.global-explorer.de/Sh3Gen%200.7.1.zip This version takes care of the issues listed above. I have rewritten parts of the logic behind general options screen, so you can now switch off map markings as well, the "Write War Diary" and "Write Map" will work a bit differently and as I think, in a more logical way. Has anybody taken the time trying to fulfil one of the mission objectives? Is there anything else that someone has found out? Another question that was raised in the marinesims.de forum is whether I should change the name of this tool to something like "B-Dienst mod" or whatever. With the final versions getting closer I am at least thinking about finding a more suitable title, because I am not sure if anybody understands the current one. Any ideas? GE |
Can't get it to work:cry: I keep getting an error loading based on JIT debugger problem. Any ideas?
