David Tennant is a jock too. His father was Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland...

I think he'll do alright, he's a good actor. I just hope he gets some good scripts to work with...

I have them all, and for the most part they are brilliant. Every time I see a picture of Matt Smith I say "No way!" Every time I watch one of his episodes I'm amazed at how good he really is. :sunny:

Never heard of 'im. :hmmm:

Of course I'd never heard of any of the previous Doctors either. :O:

Try "Malcolm Tucker" on You-tube to see him in full flow, but it does carry an offensive language warning.

Funny you should say that, I have the exact same reaction when I see pictures of him playing the role. But the little bit of him after Tennant went bye-bye, plus the few clips I've just seen.. I dunno. I liked it.

He was also in Torchwood, the 'Children of Earth' arc, as well as the Tenth(?) Doctor episode - "The Fires of Pompeii" which also starred future assistant Karen Gillan.

Give the guy a chance...other doctors were given the same.

I'm curious about how the new Doctor will be! The actor is older than the previous ones, didn't think they would go with that.

Wonder if it hints at a slightly darker Who?

Hopefully he'll get Jamie from The Thick of It as his sidekick....wouldn't want to be a Dalek in that universe.

To be honest, I wanted John Hurt, especially seeing as he is going to be playing some form of Doctor in the special. The guy I really wanted, though, was Idris Elba. Elba would have rocked it. Maybe next time, although I think the next one might well be a woman.

I really liked Mat Smith. Would have been happy for him to do another series at least. I got well tired of Tennant towards the end, although that had more to do with the Beeb pushing him on every show before his last episode.

Smith is a great actor, though. Check him out playing Christopher Isherwood in the BBC adaptation of Goodbye to Berlin from a couple of years back. He's brilliant in it.

The new Doctor Who is Glaswegian.

The first episode will see him in his home town, fighting hordes of Cidermen.

Smith is great. On the other hand...

I always paraphrase Will Rogers - "I've never watched a Doctor I didn't like."

I think he'll bring his own persona to the character like all those before him did.
