Hi guys!
I can confirm the problem is not with IRAI. Before 'MMM' idea appears I had about 80-85 mods installed incl. "heavy mods" (newUI, mtns, harbor, OHII etc.)
and everything was OK. Despite my modlist was correct, sometimes I got CTD when starting new campaign, sometimes not. In case with CTD I've used the method of disabling one by one mods installed last untill the positive result was achieved. And as my mod-list been changing from time to time, the mods I suspected to be 'critical' were different (sometimes I suspect even 'DBSM music' which do not conflict with any other mod but has a good mem. volume).
At last I was absolutely sure that the reason of CTD is not in the mods but in the AMMOUNT OF DATA that is had to be loaded simultaniously when starting new campaign. May be some of you noticed when the long process of starting new campaign (with OHII+Harbor+mtns enabled) is launched the CPU works very hard during only the last few seconds before/when bunker scene is appearing, and the game CTD's at this moment when it is almost successfully started.
The RAM is not the reason also, and 4 Gb is enough for this (I had detected via Win7 task manager that max. volume of RAM used during 'critical' period of loading the game is less then 2,5 Gb), and also guys who had 32 Gb of RAM had faced the same problem.
Though I'm not an expert in PC-iron issues I had a strong feeling that the problem is in HARDDISK DATA EXCHANGE RATE.. In other words the volume of data which had to be overworked and downloaded in a short period of time is LIMITED. F.e., I have one SEAGATE SATA2 HD with 3Gbs to MB connection, and the rate of HD data exchange is ranked by Windows as 5.4, though other system parameters had maximum rank (7.9) by now.
So all of us are using various systems with different HD and other parameters, and various PC configurations (incl. manufacturers) creating different effects even if some of us are using one modlist. This effect sometimes make us think that problem is in the mod, and in fact it is not so.

Sorry for the long post. We have discussed this topic (re HDD data exchange limits) with Uekel in some other thread few weeks ago, so I apologise if somebody have read about this before:salute:

Thank you, thank you very much. This info is very important to me to know, perhaps between all of us, some day we can know the real reason why this happens, and for that, every piece of information is very useful.
:salute:

Interesno,

Anyone running an SSD HD around here?

If yes;

- What make and model?
- Had any CTDs when running 'heavy' mods?

:hmmm:

Yeah, I think you're right! I have also long time suspected my hard disc:yep:

I know that TDW and TheBeast are running SSD HD.

Hi Pedro,
Here's another strange thing;

Yesterday I could run the Ui-boat (MMM P1 + P2 + Ui-boat + P4) even if loading took some time.

Today I got CTDs when I tried to start the Happy Times campaign (after loading the 'In bunker')

So, I tried the 'Cornered Giant' mission and - CTD

Next I tried to apply the MMM P1 only and - CTD

Seems like my install has gone bananas.

Yes, I've got 2x 500GB solid state hybrid drives in my new rig. Much faster that anything I've had in the past. Only had the system since last monday so still messing around with it, and my soup but yesterday I've managed to get this working and it's looking good so far.....no CTD yet!!

I have noticed quite a reduction in game loading time in comparisson to my old rig....which I fried in the end!!

More testing to be done but if I encounter and probs I'll let you all know.

2 X OCZ 120GB SATA3 Vertex 3 MAXIOPS edition in Raid 0. Absolutely no problems. Loading times are nothing too :D Max I ever have to wait in loading is maybe 2 minutes if that.

Bench marked at ~650MB/s transfer rate. Motherboard is limiting factor as these in RAID 0 on I7 rigs are well over 1000MB/s (I'm AMD with Crosshair V Formula MB)

Thanks for the quick replies

Looks like I'm gonna see my dealer on Monday.

Found the OCZ Agility 3 - 120G at ~ $180.00, sounds reasonable.

600 MB/s :D

Hi pedrobas

in p2 you are using "19 - Enhanced FunelSmoke1.2_by HanSolo78"

Shouln't you use "mtns - Enhanced FunelSmoke1.2_by HanSolo78", installed in p5 instead :06:

As i try that every part can be independent from the others i use it "also" in p2.
And i say "also" because "Enhanced FunelSmoke1.2_by HanSolo78" comes already included in mnts 1.8d, so in reality is in both parts. :salute:

That's ~650MB/s in a RAID 0 config, not a single drive (RAID 0 is minimum two drives). It's also using SATAIII which my motherboard supports. If you use the drive in a SATAII config the speeds are much slower.

The Agility 3 is ok but it's IOPS are slow. You want high IOPS :yep:

I never benchmarked my SSDs as single drives so I don't know what their individual read/write speeds are.

Thanks!

Didn't check the specs

My MB is a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7, Socket-AM3+

Would the OCZ VTX3MI-25SAT3-120G 120GB Vertex 3 SATA III 2.5 inch Solid State Drive do the trick, you think?

Or is this a good time to upgrade the MB? :hmmm:
