I just discovered this game and I have a couple of questions.

When working your way down a tech tree......say, German Tank Destroyers.... do you have to purchase each tank until you get to the one you actually want or can you just "research" your way past some units.

I'm thinking I need to buy and use all the tanks on the tree because I'm not able to level up without earning some research credits with said tank to unlock the next tank in the tier. Is that correct?

I won't buy gold so it sure looks like a long grind to get to the ones you want.

Played perhaps 9 battles. Best so far is 4 kills with a little T26 but I die alot mostly because I can't maneuver very well. I'm best suited in the TD or arty role. I do ok in maps that offer lots of cover but the urban ones do me in. Fun little game though.

You need to play through each tank is my experience. I do not purchase gold either as I do not play enough to warrant paying to play. I think if gold is purchased going by some tanks is allowed. Plus there are a lot of other goodies a player can add to his tank. Yes, the non-payers like us have a long grind and apparently have to purchase all tanks on the tech tree.

only way to upgrade without getting it and grinding is if you have enough free XP to use that.

Oh and I just got my 1st Tier VI vehicle, the KV-3, and I'm almost done researching the VK 3601. :yeah:

Update: My top tanks are now the KV-3, KV-1S, and VK 3601 (H). I just unlocked the PZ IV Tiger and have the Jagdpanzer IV unlocked.

Looks like I'll be grinding the KV-1S tommorw on my day off to get closer to unlocking that IS. I prefer the KV-1S to the KV-3, fits my playing style more.

So far their low tier tanks are pretty fail however, they can't penetrate anything. :shifty:

I tried the french tanks, got to the B1 and realized it is a hopeless cause.

Yay for the German tanks! (loves me E 100 even if it is the tier 10 paper tank)

Clan wars isn't new, it's been in the game since a bit after release. They just took it down around the time of the 7.1 update because of some issues or whatever.

Anyone else think the earned exp and credits was adjusted with version 7.1?

It seems harder to grind to a next tier tank once you get to level 5 or 6.

You almost need a premium tank, or premium account to make a profit with a high tier tank.

Hmm ,they may have, they're wargameing, you never know what kind of Shandie thing they might do to get people to spend money.

*though I always noticed that My income when I hit tier 7 (summer last year IIRC) usually wasn't alot during bad battles.

though I think that they intend people to play lower tier tanks to make money, to let them play higher tiers so people play lower tier tanks, since if they could just grind a tier 7 and make plenty of money, no one would play lower tiers.

EX in my E 100 A fail team can cost me 35-40K (+ ammo, 1200ish a shell,+ consumables) credits, but i make about 7-12K on REALLY bad battles. Though on a normal battle i usually cut even.

New version 7.2 added more tank trees and new tanks.

It also reduced the accuracy of most of the guns in the game and reduced the credits and Exp earned by all higher tier tanks.
