repetative
After failing with sh3 for months, I thought i would give sh5 a try.
started out great :) but when I saved my game I couldn't reload it . Tried all my saved games from when i played it years ago, and the same problem. I can start a new campaign no problem, but it will not load ANY saved games. Have to start new patrol to get it to work. Any ideas sailors ??????? |
Old saves of course, unless you have the EXACT same set-up as before, will not load. However, there is also the diff between UPlay and UConnect launchers, as well as UConnect not being backwards compatible with Windows 7 or earlier... There have been a number of Ubisoft "updates" of late that have almost trashed the game to where I cannot play it at all except on one computer - and I do not understand what the differences are between two of my computers that it will NOT play properly on the other... Perhaps it is the "online" and "offline" settings? But I do not remember how to do that... except it is in the UConnect settings somewhere... Perhaps the THEBERBSTER's tuts SH5 <> TUTORIALS <>HOW TO DO IT <> INFORMATION... can help?? I couldn't find it right away, and it might be buried in one of the TWoS tuts... :hmmm:

Buge
Hi everyone, and "MERRY CHRISTMAS" to all.
The problem I am having is can't find how to turn off "Games saved to server" I started reading about it on here, but it just faded out on to other subjects. I can play the single missions and save, no problem, but i can NOT get a mission to reload after saving :( Can someone explain how to do this ?? Thank's in advance, and all the best to everyone..:Kaleun_Cheers::Kaleun_Salute: |

SH5 and TWOS on windows11 crash
Windows 11 version 24H2 is installed on my HP laptop processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz 2.42 GHz with 16Go memory.
I installed Silent Hunter 5 software V1.2.0 using Ubisoft connect. Then I patched Silent Hunter 5 with The Wolves of Steel 2.2 SH5 Expansion Pack_v2.2.25. The game works fine with all features. However, the software crashes after firing torpedos and return to Windows. Why? Why the software SH5 crashes when I fire torpedos. I appreciate an answer |

SH5 issues
So I got the game at release, never got around to really playing it until now.
Downloaded with Ubisoft connect. I can launch the vanilla game, but there are old saves that I have a feeling is messing with the wolves of steel mod. Want to delete them to ensure I dont have any previous campaign saves messing something up. Can't load them - crash to desktop. Start a new campaign and try to delete them from the "save" menu - "delete save game failed". How can I possibly delete them when the damned things are synchronized from the server?! I have also noticed that if I try to save a game - crash to desktop. Any ideas what I should try? Does the steam version run better? |

Bright
[QUOTE=zwoek;2790511]Hi,
I installed lates TWOS on new laptop. When I go out (external view) underwater I can see bright green colour and only shapes of ships. I think it might be something wrong with graphical settings, or graphic drivers. Even if look through the periscope, I can see bright green (underwater). I updated graphic drivers, and its the same. Reinstall mod, nothing change. Do You have some problem like that? graphic card RTX3070 laptop It appears to be the "anitaliasing" slider in the graphic options within the game. |

Bump :yep: Welcome to SUBSIM  |
@ all - I have been attempting to find any solution to the SH5 Steam / Ubisoft issues several users have encountered. I even went so far as to start my Ubisoft Connect app directly this morning, and logged-in... the :damn: app "updated" before launching. All of my old "Offline Mode" stuff is now gone, lost forever in the everlasting ether of designed obsolescence, apparently. There is no menu choice for "Offline Mode" any longer. They do say you can start in "Offline Mode" by pulling the wire, but, as soon as you connect the wire, it goes back to online, and attempts to sync files...
I did manage to start the game afterwards from the Library in UConnect, which then launched Steam, which I also had to log into... the SH5 game did finally start. It then "synced" the save online - again... I then attempted to load one of my saves, from last year sometime. The game then "went away" (no crash that I saw, but no window, no error message either). I "see" the Steam Client running in Task Manager, along with the Ubisoft Connect stuff, but no Silent Hunter 5... I have no explanation for that behavior. The game does start fine, I can play the game from New Career, but either they "trashed" my "Offline Mode" saves from my computer hard drive, or I can no longer load saved games. Can't really say. I did a re-install of the game with just stock SH5 (no TWoS), and a new career is fine, but again, it has issues with a Saved game reloading, and the window just disappears... no errors on my system. All of the information I can find on Silent Hunter 5, TWoS and Ubisoft Ucconect is now "old", in computer terms, and most no longer seems to apply. I do not play the game enough to bother with it, and on my computer (Windows 10), it now looks like abandonware... It plays, but will not save properly (stock or TWoS), and/or will not load a Save. The usual caveats apply with SH5, as with 4 & 3, and that is
|
I also still own Silent Hunter 5. But didn't play it for years. Started playing in 2010. Ubisoft Launcher or who do you call it ?
I can't play it. Its pretty pathetic that you bought it, and you can't play it decently anymore. |
this screen,May I ask where the problem lies?

And for the 4th time... :har: Do you mean the water splash in the picture? If so, yes, these water splashes occur when, for example, there's damage to the boat and water is getting in. If you walk past the damage, you'll get hit by these water splashes. This also happens if, for example, you're on the outside camera and get hit by water from depth charge. These water splashes can also crash the game, at least in the boat, if there are too many. At least that's my experience. The quickest way to get a clear screen again is to go to the outside view via F2 and go underwater. Then press F2 again, and you'll be back in the boat without these water splashes. |
