I think they delay it just to foster forum traffic and help with the per clicks sponsers :haha:

Oh that and just to piss you off. :salute:

Hi all,
I think that all we can say is that Ubisoft has shown very poor planning management abilities...

Once upon a time, in the long-suffering land of Romania, Ubisoft (in the Ivory Tower) called down to the poor people (The Devs) in the village at the base of the gleaming tower and asked how much time & money they'd need to produce another sequel in the Silent Hunter franchise. The Devs thought about it long and hard and gave them an answer. Ubisoft listened to their reply with a stern face, told them to cut both time & money by half or they'd lose their jobs and be unable feed their families....The End.

Well, now that even consoles can download and install patches, say welcome to the new trend of releasing unfinished and buggy games! :salute:

Yeah well in Romania they have a recent history of overthrowing their nasty overlords! Maybe the devs should run amok? ;)

Hey, you're right... this is fun!

JCC

I like this one... Well, people should be more patient, and yes, Ubisoft could only do a better job at public relations and communicate the true reason for the delay (they hardly could do worse; maybe are again think of ways to attribute the delay to a pirate DDos attack again or so...). But maybe the devs will thus get the opportunity to deliver a ground breaking patch at least (not that this is equal to saying they released a pretty poor &/or buggy game in first place...). But maybe they are just implementing and upgraded scheme of the OSP-DRM in the exe instead to make the cracks useless again...

In fairness, I can't remember buying any software that worked perfectly from version 1.00 straight out of the box.

I guess you still a little younger, are you?

Actually Thomas Jefferson said that way back in 1786.

You didn't buy software in pre internet era.

There were buggy games released back then, so things weren't all that different. I can think of several tape loading games that couldn't be finished and two that couldn't be started or would crash. The way round it was to enter the correct POKEs, so not only did you have to wait for the patch, it would often be a community patch and... you'd have to type the patch loader in yourself from the magazine if it wasn't a poke or you didn't have the right hardware like a Multiface. Thankfully you don't have to type in 486 Megs worth of patch these days.

I'd say the fact it's not here yet speaks for itself. Don't know how long the delay is, but it's not gonna make April 20th. :-?

kemeri 04-20-10 01:53 PM

Good news.
Let them work ...

Not hearing too much from the Ubi and dev cheerleaders now, huh....

John Channing 04-20-10 02:12 PM

Is that kind of comment really necessary. What exactly do you hope to accomplish with that kind of remark?

Seriously, I would really like to understand the intent of that post. Was it to sneer at other people. Was it to try to insult people? Was it intended to make you feel superior?

JCC

ps: Perhaps the reason you are not hearing from the " Ubi and dev cheerleaders" is that A) they are adults who have jobs and are at work, B) they understand the adult concept that it is better to wait for something to be done correctly and C) they are adult enought to be enjoying the game as it is. Notice a theme running through those three points?

Fix't.

Kptlt_Lynch 04-20-10 02:38 PM

Yeah, I could care less about some deadline. I'd rather have a functional patch. They rushed the game, lets not add insult to injury.
