It's quarter 2, 2020. How do I sign up for the Squadron 42 beta?

Dowly 05-20-20 01:29 AM

If anyone's interested to try out Star Citizen, there will be a Free Fly week from May 22 to June 1. At the same time, there's also an in-game event: the UEE Navy's 'Fleet Week'. Rumour has it that we might see our first capital ship.

Loving 3.9 and 3.10!

Its now stable enough for me to actually make money.
Earned 100k moving boxes, bought a Helix mining head and I then made 1,5mill :D

Dowly 08-24-20 07:33 AM

Bought the Prospector and Helix head as well, spending all my in-game money on it. It's great fun and 3.10 seems to be a fairly good patch; really like the new flight model.

I will, of course, lose my prospector very likely since I bought it at a time when they were having backend issues with persistence and the game probably didn't save my purchase, so it's back to hauling cargo in my MAX when 3.10.2 goes live.

Dowly 08-24-20 11:26 PM

3.10.2 is live and I didn't lose my Prospector, hooray!

They've also fixed their LTP backend issue and you should have every ship back you've purchased with in-game money since 3.9.

Btw, add me as friend McBeck if you want, I'm Dowly in SC as well. :yep:

Cant remember if I added you, but will check :D
I am called Nozferatu in game

i wish the ship designs weren't so stupid, otherwise i would have jumped on it years ago. hearing all the internal strife rumors, maybe this is a good thing? star citizens scope+ ship design from infinity battlescape would have been perfect.

"By the end of this year, backers will have everything they originally pledged for, plus alot more."- Chris Roberts (2015)

It's coming up on Q2 (checks calendar) 2021. Is anyone signed up for the Squadron 42 Beta?

This year we will finish [SQ42],” Roberts said in 2017

Squadron 42 will be done when it is done, and will not be released just to make a date,’ says Chris Roberts

https://www.polygon.com/2020/12/28/2...esting-funding

"I have decided that it is best to not show Squadron 42 gameplay publicly, nor discuss any release date until we are closer to the home stretch and have high confidence in the remaining time needed to finish the game to the quality we want,” Roberts added.

“My hope is that you’ll be so engaged in Star Citizen that Squadron 42 will be here before you know it.”

Nice work if you can get it.

What a mess.

Tony Z talks about the future of all things simulated in the persistent universe:

Nothing groundbreaking, basically a mix of systems that are used in city-builders and games like X3, but still very impressive. :yep:

With 3.14 the first planetary body introduced to the game - the gas giant Crusader - finally got its... gas clouds and with it came also the absolutely gorgeous Orison landing zone:

After the less than stellar release of Elite Dangerous Odyssey, the SC community has seen a lot of "Elite refugees" coming to check out the game, many recording their first impressions on various aspects of the game.

Here's BlackMaze's first two videos, first being more of a general view of the basics and the second one of him checking out the various stations in SC.

Yeah, I did see some from ED making appearances on the forums :)

Interesting to get their views.

I gave my brother in law SC as a present in 2015 and he still teases me about when it will be ready and recently pointed me to the new version of ED and asked if SC got overtaken in the meantime :D

It looks like Frontier, made a mess with this - I guess the foundation of the game and the tech cant handle it.

Yes, this is the issue from what I've followed it. Frontier made more of a classic space game and then started to bolt stuff to it, latest being of course space legs, and now they found out the hard way that it's not that simple.

Star Citizen did the opposite; from the very first module (hangar) onwards we've had space legs, and CIG has been adding the rest of what's needed for a space game to that concept.
