No affect on frame rates on my installation, using the 'less reflective' version. AMD 64 1620 LE, Sapphire X1650 pro, 2Gb DDRII.

I have a good classic "ATI 1950XtX 512RAM" which is a row power card, that can not cost too much in March2008... with AFx4 have no problems with a frame rate... Alpha or not Alpha...
:yep: If You want to keep up with modern visuals... mod should not be aimed for ATI X800XT... I am really greatefull for you modding OLC, delighted,..etc - but please, be aware that time is flying by... no matter what we want, wish or intend... or feel.:roll:  Your biggest fan, |

Due to the results of the beta I've once again opted to release high-spec and low-spec versions of the mod. I know, I should make my mind up! Anyway you'll get OLC Env in all its glory with a high spec machine. OK!? ;) |

Hi
Im new around here. I've a 486 100mhz with 8mb ram and onboard videocard, will this mod work in my rig? SH3 alone is a little bit too heavy already, I cant go pass 1 frame each 5 minutes... Looks great, tho! |

Lo OLC:
Did a bit of testing with the 16k version and here the short low-down: This mod is a major step in the right direction. To see the Ocean and the Heaven actually touching without the "blue band" in between is so strange. It's a killer feel! http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k1...1205444918.jpg I think the ocean color is pretty tight. It’s cool to se the sun elevation actually making a difference on the reflection and glittering on the water! The performance impact is solid...for lack of better words. I usually play the GWX 16k and its ok; I play at 1600x900 with the Res fix and things are smooth most of the time. I have an ATI X1300 PCI-E (kinda old) with all my AA-AF settings half ways maxed. And I get smooth FPS for playing! Of cause the Bismarck battle gets to my machine (heavy weather; lots of big guns and waves till the roof!) But that’s ok. An has always been like this! I have not encountered any strange graphical glitches so far. Save one, which I tried to reproduce unsuccessfully till now! It appeared in the Scapa Flow Mission near land. It looked like a white stretched ( # ) where the waterline meets the land. Flickered a few times and was gone. May just be my GC complaining! ;) Not sure what caused this… but will keep testing The shot below was taken a bit too late to show the glich, bit it shows how good the mod deals with the reddish tint while the sun is setting! Take a look at the bow spay. Coolness! http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k1...1205442088.jpg Will keep you posted. |

Just wanted to point that two years old hardware is being considered as "high spec PC" in a thread... discussing the mod that is supposed to be visual refreshment for 2008/2009, I guess... ;) |

Surfing!!!
The mod has progressed some more in the last couple of days. Reflections are now just the way I wanted, so today I started taking screenshots to show off. While doing so, at flank speed in a storm, I inadvertently found myself surfing the back of a wave!
I just had to take a vid  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnYkVy89Tg8 :rotfl: That's awesome! Made me lol anway. Kudos to the GWX guys for making the physics that good  P.S. The wave textures may need tweaking a bit more :hmm: but those reflections are perfect :D P.P.S. The video is taken in the Ultrahigh detail version, so the framerate is a bit low on my rig. There are now Ultrahigh, High, Medium and Low detail versions, to suit different machines. P.P.P.S. I suppose I might as well post the screenshots I've taken so far... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2218/...d6908668_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2120/...e02367bb_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2312/...cccfc95a_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2408/...fef64991_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3275/...d14070ac_o.jpg |
