@Neal,
Is it possible to get a geussimate of the cost of the activities(not including hotel)?

Cheers for the PM Jimbuna, I will get busy looking at the cost of flights etc. Any idea on the amount of spending money needed, as I have no idea!

Not really....I should imagine Neal will post some approximates for car hire, visits etc. soon.
I take enough for food and drink plus any pressies you may want to purchase.

All together $1000 should cover it more than easily.....depending on your appetite and consumption levels http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...s/thumbsup.gif

The meeting dates are OCT 9-12 so I'm planning on flying out on 8th and back on 13th, Btitish Airways, Heathrow to Houston direct, about £505. This cuts out the need for a US changeover and also knocks nearly 4 hours off the travel time.

If you've any more queries, don't hesitate to PM me

A sneak peek at the square-rigged ship Elissa

Jimbuna 03-10-08 05:09 AM

Not even one mile from my home lies the river Tyne, there is a bi-annual (I believe) visit from the Tall Ships event to the river.
Competitors come from all over the world. I was wondering if Elissa has ever competed in this round the world race event.
I'm afraid I can't find a link to a list of competitors at present, but here are two local links with some pictures:

Chances of me going are improving. I seem to be settled on a course to stay in Canada and do my PhD next year, with good funding, so I may just have the funds to go to Texas indeed :)

By the way... is anyone thinking of making plans to meet up and make arrangement for the trip there together? I do dislike traveling alone :p

Assuming I end up where I think I'll end up next [academic] year, I'd certainly be up for going with anyone planning on traveling from/through Toronto, Buffalo or Detroit :hmm:

Tango589 03-11-08 05:07 PM

Does anyone else from the UK plan on making the trip?

NightCrawler-SimHQ 03-12-08 12:13 AM

Well I have just talked to my Better Half and October 9-12 is somewhat booked for this event. Thanks for the invite Neal, because me and my old lady has been looking for a reason to visit Galveston and this will be the best event that I can think of to 'fill the bill'.

I will have to see IF my finances will allow me to be there, but if at all possible I will TRY to be there even if it is only for 1 day.

Here's hoping you have more luck than I did in #138 http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/2...kbigid2nz2.gif
