Looks very good. Worked fine.
I assume that with Mini Tweaker I can change/eliminate tonnage and colors? Now I just have to learn how to use Mini Tweaker ........:hmm: ......... which I've just downloaded. |

What would be a good image editor? I haven't got one yet. |
Just a little feedback!
Installed no problem through JSGME, and placing TGAs in correct folder. All flags and pennants show up perfectly. Flags and pennants disappear OK when submerged / obs scope lowered. Mini-tweaker works well to "isolate" any combination of required pennants and flags. Pennants and flags "viewable" OK from Bridge view in SH3. (Although pennants difficult to see currently due to no animation...yet!;) ) All in all........no problems with this on my system! I am going to play around with some TGA editing next! Getting there rapidly now, Racerboy!!! Get that champagne on ice now!!!:D |

I use Photoshop for my image editing but you probably don't own it because it costs some serious $$. IIRC people were touting Gimp as a good freeware image editor. I'll have to download it and play with it to become familair with it to help people like yourself edit the TGAs to their liking. |
Thanks for the replie Racerboy. I did not think what i was asking was possible. But just had to check to make sure. But your work around is a very good idea indeed. Im not to fussed about flying a flag but flying pennants when coming back into harbour would be very col indeed.

Silly question perhaps but....if I am in game and sink a ship and than I use the mini tweaker to enable the flags/pennants, does this take place in-game right away or do I have to exit out and restart to see the change?

Personally I like the halyard where it is, but I will happily go along with what the majority prefer. Those pictures show it using the Attack scope, which could cause more problems, as the attack scope is raised & lowered a lot more when in-game than the less-used Obs scope. Possibly getting the halyard to run at a wider angle from the scope (as in, if the lower end werre fastened to the handrail) might be an idea, but i don't think its any great deal.
I can confirm that you definitely need to Save and exit, then restart, before any changes will show when editing pennant numbers etc. Just Alt-Tabbing into Mini-tweaker and back won't work. Editing the pennant TGAs is a very simple job, using any image-editing software that can handle images in TGA format! I've redone all mine into different colours and Fraktur fonts!!:D |
The majority of the historical pictures posted here in recent days show the halyard extending from the attack periscope to the handrail .... but would this not be harder to animate than the way that you have it now?
For gaming purposes I would leave them on the observation scope, even though the attack scope seems to be the historical choice. Of course, if you choose to run the halyard from the obs scope to the handrail, the halyard will have to be much longer than if from the attack scope. |
I feel that it is fine where it is. Putting it on the attack scope would cause too many problems.

majority rules so it stays where it is. Thanks all!

Is this compatible with the latets gwx version?
