Looks very good. Worked fine.
I assume that with Mini Tweaker I can change/eliminate tonnage and colors?

Now I just have to learn how to use Mini Tweaker ........:hmm: ......... which I've just downloaded.

You turn off and turn on flags and pennants with the tweak file provided via Mini-Tweaker. You change the flags and pennants by changing the 7b_1_Flag_x.tgas and 7b_1_Pennant_x.tgas used in \data\Textures\TNormal\tex. You can make them whatever country, whatever color, whatever tonnage, whatever you want them to be. Just use your favorite image editor to edit them. Use the templates provided to make new ones if you so desire. :|\\

Sounds complicated, but I'll try.
What would be a good image editor? I haven't got one yet.

Just a little feedback!

Installed no problem through JSGME, and placing TGAs in correct folder.
All flags and pennants show up perfectly.
Flags and pennants disappear OK when submerged / obs scope lowered.
Mini-tweaker works well to "isolate" any combination of required pennants and flags.
Pennants and flags "viewable" OK from Bridge view in SH3. (Although pennants difficult to see currently due to no animation...yet!;) )

All in all........no problems with this on my system! I am going to play around with some TGA editing next!

Getting there rapidly now, Racerboy!!! Get that champagne on ice now!!!:D

It's actually very simple to turn on/off flags and pennants using the tweak file and Mini-Tweaker. If you need assistance PM me.
I use Photoshop for my image editing but you probably don't own it because it costs some serious $$. IIRC people were touting Gimp as a good freeware image editor. I'll have to download it and play with it to become familair with it to help people like yourself edit the TGAs to their liking.

Thanks for the replie Racerboy. I did not think what i was asking was possible. But just had to check to make sure. But your work around is a very good idea indeed. Im not to fussed about flying a flag but flying pennants when coming back into harbour would be very col indeed.

Silly question perhaps but....if I am in game and sink a ship and than I use the mini tweaker to enable the flags/pennants, does this take place in-game right away or do I have to exit out and restart to see the change?

due to the nature of which the game handles the files (which is load everything at startup) you have to exit and restart to see the change. You shouldn't have to exit the entire game but you will definitely have to exit your career (save first), make change, then come back into your career. I have not verified this though. Can someone verify this? I have verified this using the training missions though. I'll look into it here soon if noone responds.

Just reviewing this whole thread again and a question comes to mind. Should the Halyard be adjusted so that it looks like the above pics or does where I have it currently the best spot? How should it look is what I'm trying to get at here. :hmm:

mountainmanUK 09-01-07 02:12 AM

Personally I like the halyard where it is, but I will happily go along with what the majority prefer. Those pictures show it using the Attack scope, which could cause more problems, as the attack scope is raised & lowered a lot more when in-game than the less-used Obs scope. Possibly getting the halyard to run at a wider angle from the scope (as in, if the lower end werre fastened to the handrail) might be an idea, but i don't think its any great deal.

I can confirm that you definitely need to Save and exit, then restart, before any changes will show when editing pennant numbers etc. Just Alt-Tabbing into Mini-tweaker and back won't work.

Editing the pennant TGAs is a very simple job, using any image-editing software that can handle images in TGA format! I've redone all mine into different colours and Fraktur fonts!!:D

AtlantikEel 09-01-07 02:42 AM

The majority of the historical pictures posted here in recent days show the halyard extending from the attack periscope to the handrail .... but would this not be harder to animate than the way that you have it now?
For gaming purposes I would leave them on the observation scope, even though the attack scope seems to be the historical choice. Of course, if you choose to run the halyard from the obs scope to the handrail, the halyard will have to be much longer than if from the attack scope.

TAW_CZAREJS 09-01-07 06:27 AM

I feel that it is fine where it is. Putting it on the attack scope would cause too many problems.

TheDarkWraith 09-01-07 07:08 AM

majority rules so it stays where it is. Thanks all!

Is this compatible with the latets gwx version?
