I simply can't believe it. Nothing in life prepares you for this, and while it's true I didn't really know him, (we talked a few times in the forums) but being part of this community and admiring his work makes me feel otherwise. I pray for his family and friends and wish them ease with their overwelming sadness, and may god keep you all close to his heart.

SteveW1 01-09-08 01:34 AM

Damn thats not good news, I feel sorry for his family and friends, he was a real gentleman the way he helped others. May he rest in peace.

For those who have just heard the news and can't read every post in this thread as we share our loss, I'll once again offer my hope that this short "message" to Dave will be of some comfort:

FIREWALL 01-09-08 02:54 AM

So I don't ramble on. I was floored when I went to SubSim on my new laptop and saw picture and caption. I loged in and went to GT and didn't see anything so went back to main page and clicked picture. It took me to post #128 and as I kept reading post after post until a flood of buried memories and emotions from R\L came rushing to the surface . I thought I had these buried deep. I started this reply at 11:00pm pst and it's taken me this long to get this far and I said I wouldn't ramble on.

It's hard to type when you keep haveing to wipe your eye's. I know you can look down and see and hear me so THANK YOU for your hard work in giveing us ROW.

RIP DAVE Your Gone but not Forgotton

Deepest Sympathy's to Family and Friend's FIREWALL

I'm thinking, if Francisco declines to accept a monetary donation, I will have a plaque made up and will send to him.

Good idea Neal - Ill support that in anyway I can - just let me know how!

seaniam81 01-09-08 03:26 AM

This is very sad news indeed. May his journey though the next life be as good as this life

hyperion2206 01-09-08 03:42 AM

Rest in Peace, Dave. Now you may have time to mod the real weather...

GOZO 01-09-08 03:46 AM

This is so sad.

But as said before he is in a better place and he will be remembered with warmth.

My condoleances to the remaining family and friends.

Now looking at the sea when sailing SHIV you will always remember Dave.

I am deeply saddened. Such a great guy. I am over 10,000 kilometres away; that says a lot about the impression that Dave made on others, and indeed, still makes.

Dave, I thank you for your avid support and valued input into the development of JSGME. And I thank you for your enthusiastic PMs on the latest developments on ROW. Always amazing.

You will be sorely missed.
