Hehe ... This is the same question for the Bismarck : did the royal navy sink the german battleship ? Or did the crew scuttle her ? In fact, even if the crew had not scuttled its ship, she would eventually sank ... a few hours later. :)

Direct answer to your question : yes, my submarine sank ... one second later ! :DL I had just the time to do the screenshot !

BERNARD!

I was raiding a port. My torpedos did bubcas, and I was being chased out by a destroyer. Popped up to shoot a trawler. Got it, but got hit.
ME: Dive to periscope depth!
NO: The water is shallow!
ME: But deep enough for periscope depth!
*Bernard crashes submarine into the ground*
ME: PERISCOPE DEPTH!
ME: Oh no, it's not working!
ME: BLOW BALAST!
ME: CRAP! It's not working! We took on too much flood water!:damn:
ME: Who put Bernand in charge of anything?
ME: Bernard!
Burnard the dunderhead: Yes?
:/\\chop
ME: Swim for it! We must surrender. Open the hatches and hold your breath.

No picture, but funny, well not for those involved I supose:

During World War II, a German U-boat was sunk by a truck. The U-boat in question attacked a convoy in the Atlantic and then rose to see the effect. The merchant ship it sank had material strapped to its deck including a fleet of trucks, one of which was thrown in the air by the explosion, landing on the U-boat and breaking its back.

That was my sub.
