Well, there goes tonight. :haha:

I can't find an announcement, so the developers must be expert ninjas, but 0.22 seems to be out.

EDIT: I guess this serves as one.

Now only seventy billion hours to download...

Arclight 10-16-13 03:02 PM

100KB/s... damn you, intertubes.

Do their patches release on Steam at the same time? Might be an idea to transfer my key. :hmmm:

I hope Bill remembered his thermal underwear....

I have to say, I really dislike the way the tech tree is laid out, it doesn't make sense. Like for example you don't get any plane parts until much later, and you don't have any decouplers, probes, or anything at the starting level. All in all I think it is very badly thought out, the technological progression makes almost no sense.

So I guess I am going to have to overhaul the darn thing for myself.

Its very much in beta and I think a lot of the current progression has more to do with the state of the game then tech progression order. For example I did a probe launch today and it doesn't seem as if you can actually get much science at all out of unmanned probes. Planes can only really go around checking out various regions and taking dirt samples of various places so its kind a pain in the ass to get enough science to unlock much of anything. Manned space missions at the moment are probably there first just to get an actual good speed of progression at the start.

Ya I get some of that, but it still is bizarre to have rocket technology without any aircraft tech or start off with a probe first. Also if you are willing to blow up stuff you can do staging by overheating the previous stage you can fairly easily make a rocket that can land on minmus and back and rack up a couple hundred points. I just wish I could mod the tech tree itself, but instead I will probably shift everything around until it makes more sense while adding in all the modded parts I used so it all works.

The big annoyance though is the lack of a decoupler as I try to play with zero casualties, so being forced to strap a manned capsule to a rocket with no way of detaching it irritates me (even though I can successfully land something like that).

The Mundiver does its thing. Bill Kerman hopes the valley walls aren't as solid as they look.

The new tech thing is pretty cool... but the lack of early RCS isn't. My ships are space bricks!

I haven't had to much issue with the lack of RCS myself, I think the SAS change in the patch before .22 really helped make it so you don't have to stack your rockets full of RCS in order to fly, hell I've done like 4 landings between mun and minmus without a single drop of RCS fuel used

McBeck 10-20-13 06:15 AM

They just made a change that makes non-RCS control almost impossible :(

Arclight 10-20-13 08:03 AM

They did? Still only use RCS for docking. :06:
