The first mile
Zee, Lc, Chucky, one way we are going to survive the first 15 minutes of battle is by having a more disciplined AI. We need our Tiger wingmenn to protect our flanks and rear, not to rush forward like Ferraris and either get killed in the first 3 minutes, depriving us of protection, or simply mowing down the opponent, leaving us behind to write postcards. This what happened to me the last few times I played Tigers Shake Kurtenki or Tigers Breakout.
We need the AI active but subservient and leaving the player tank in control of the operations. Best to all. Frinik |
My 'run and hide' tactic has served me well over the years.
I also have the 'I'm not coming out until they have gone' tactic also.:salute: |
Survive the first mile
Fellow tank crunchers
My tactic will be to keep myself "logged in" to the driver position (i.e not have "A" auto enabled whilst I man (i.e. "P" enabled) the commander's position. I can then assess the opposition - and very bravely reverse at max speed; whilst my wingmen act as "shell attractors", for me to spot any hidden tanks or guns for the gunner (he will be Auto enabled). We'll see!! failing this I will have to do the British thing and retire to consider the situation over a cup of tea!! :shifty: ATB - Mort |
Awe guys I don't think it will be that bad :D

Did a search around the forums for these missions ZW, and found the old thread about the Xmas Present of the beta missions! Got them downloaded, along with the dll package, and the redone 6th Mission. The installer worked just fine with getting the package installed, (I'm using Win7 BTW), dlls went straight in, but the installer for the Mission6, didn't.
It installed to the correct TvT folder, but created a new Lighthouse folder, and inside was anothe TvT folder, so I just cut and pasted those into the main folder, and all seemed ok. Got one duplicate error message at first, read this thread on what to do to fix it, did a reboot, and it started just fine! Since I'm so new to this sim, I'll probably do better when I learn the key commands, lol Did notice my wingman in the first mission took off real quick, but like I say, since I'm so new to this sim, he was out of sight before I even got my engine started!:haha: Think I'll read the manual now, and try to figure out what I'm supposed to do. My system specs are- Windows 7 AMD Phenom II X 4 2.8 Ghz Quad Core 4 GB DDR 3 1600 RAM ATI 5750 1 GB (can handle DDR5 and DX11, but have no sims that need that yet!) Cat 10.1 Drivers I set compatability for the TvT exe at XP SP3, and set myself as Administrator, and it runs great. People should know that they should get at least the Hotfix and the unofficial Update for this sim, cuts down on all those errors it ships with. But Tanksim.ru site is down for maintenance at the moment, nothing drastic has happened, just updating it. Not sure where else to find the files? Eddie |
Files?
Eddie, I am not sure what files you are looking for(the dll ones?) but I encourage you to read all the threads devoted to TvsT on this forum( they go back to 2007).Many deal with installs, problems, fixes and trouble-shooting. Otherwise, you have other fora like:http://panzersim.forumotion.com/ which has threads devoted to TvsT.There's also SIM HQ.com and there's a British website( can't remember the name ) devoted to TvsT with many tips and advice(Google T34 versus Tiger and you'll see lots of sites available). Tanksim.ru should be back and running in a few days so be patient.

Thanks frinik, but I was talking about where to find the hotfix and such with tanksim being down right now. I have everything I need at the moment, but someone else might be looking for them, and not sure who else is hosting them.

15 Minutes
Hello fellow members,
i think i would first call artillery support to let the enemy know we are preparing our attack. HEAVY BOMBARDMENT. 1 hour or so to break enemys morale. Meanwhile we are approaching the frontline and call some air support if we are in trouble the Stukas will do the rest. Sure infantary and some recon vehicles will find a way to get through. If this is not enough i will call ZW to send a virus to kill the enemy:D Ran an den Feind LC |
Ok guys, I have decided to change our first day overall objective.
From the first day's three objectives to a three separate mission with a single objective per (day )mission. Each previous single objective to three objectives over three days. So what that means is I will release Kursk a mission at a time (July 5th to 9th) until the huge climactic battle of Prochorovka which will require a totally new 36km x 36km map, (in which I already have the satellite digital elevation data for). In this way I will meet my deadline and further the expansion of new models while I at the same time to wright the new missions. And I want the Pz.KpfW Panther Sd.Kfz 171 V D2 (AI only) to bee included in a Kursk mission before Prochorovka. With this I want to truly take my time and I will not set a deadline but I will tell you I will continue at almost the same pace I am now but with some breathing room. I firmly intend to give everyone who plays these new Kursk releases a splinter of what the old timers who were the "Boots on the ground" experienced in that hell on earth. So guys, what do you think about that? :ping: ZW |
I could kiss you :yep:

Looking forward to it ZW!:)

Slices of Kursk
ZW; very sound plan I would call them words of WiZeedom! Kursk is a huge undertaking and since you are a one-man team I think it only makes sense to release it in chunks at time.I for one did not expect a full release! Zee are you sure you can't make the Panther playable:oops:?
Chucky are you cheating on Tiffany;) ? Heavy bombardement? Air strikes? Infantry and recon vehicles? Lc this is a battle which you are supposed to fight on the frontline not some millionaire's war!Get on your crutches man and man that Tiger on the double! Or else you will be the in infantry storming those scary trenches and ditches made by Zee.:shifty: Eddie, I have never heard of a hotfix for TvsT but you can always google... Cheers |
Thanks guys
And of course Herr frinic for his "WiZeedom":know: As far as any new playable tanks are concerned that is planned but not until I have the time to figure out the control code for a new interior for each new vehicle. Modeling the new turret interiors will take the most modeling time and I will adapt as much existing code as I can. The GUI with a panther scope overlay and the range adjustments are still to be explored. Although I do want to remodel all the Tiger E1 versions. And that will be where I will start with the playable code. However I would like to mention that I have neglected Soviet side for Kursk but don't totally despair I do plan to make my new IS-2 playable and the KV-85 as well. So it's all in the future at this point. An update on my progress: I have finished with most of the object placement so I should be moving into the code perhaps as early as Friday. The mission code will be some what modular taking blocks of code that worked well in previous ZW missions and adding a nominal amount of totally new code. This will be like an assembly line process so-to-speak for future missions and that is a good thing. :yep: Cheers, :salute: ZW |
