Hi, this is my first post. I've played Silent Hunter II on my 400mhz pc and Silent Hunter III. This is my first time I post in a sub forum.

Clayp, I have pretty much all the graphics options checked, including environmental effects, and I have a nice video card (ATI X1900XTX 512M). I use F11 to activate the external camera -- I play on 92% difficulty, but I gotta have that cam for screenies. Then I swing the camera around with the arrow keys and the left mouse button, sort of like flying a plane in a flight sim. I do this especially when the light is nice, or when something interesting is happening. CTL F11 snaps a shot, of course.

Try playing with different graphics settings. Unfortunately, in general you have to restart SH4 for many such settings to take effect. And they do have a significant effect on the look of your shots.

Don't be afraid to hit backspace ( pause time zero ) to get that perfect camera/screen shot. Then the Num + key to resume. Or F11 for external, when in the area you want to roam, hit Shft F2 for the free cam. hit backspace to pause then wander around, hit Ctrl F11 to snap a pic.

Def, like Grotius said, use the highest settings possible on the GPU. Environmental effects make all the difference for the water.

Have fun!

Does anyone know how to remove the HUD so it doesn't take up room for the perfect screenshot?

I'll keep working at it,I thought I read some place here that environmental effects was bad for the running og the game>>>

Update when I turn environmental effects on it turns my game into a slide show...(

Ah, too bad. SH4 is pretty demanding once all the graphics options are enabled.

You don't need max graphics to make a good screen-shot. ;)

I agree that most screenshot looks better than the ingame graphics..
I think this is caused by resizing the screenies. Lets hope patch 1.2 will solve the lack of AA & AF.

I found myself a large taskforce.. 2 fleetcarriers, 2 bogue carriers, 1 Iowa Battleship, 2 heavy cruisers and 4 destroyers... and afcourse my Balao USS Billfish.

Fantastic Shots of the Task Force!!!

Un-checking the Post-Process Filter (options/graphics) will give less of a Newsreel type image.
