If the cake is shrinking then something or someone will have to lose out to allow the pension guarantee....surely?

If the £12 billion benefit cuts in reality only deliver £2 billion isn't that saving entirely negated by the triple lock increase which is being used to buy votes?

That is the burning question and one that will backfire on the politicians if and when it becomes a tangible reality.

The burning question is that if even IDS is saying that George has lost the plot why can't Osborne see it?
Then again IDS does have more experience, he once managed to hold a real job for a couple of years:har:

Yes, I have heard the rumours.

I think the Tory cuts have gone a bit too far. Where I live, you wait over an hour for a bus and then none come along at once.

I see more signs of the destruction of the welfare state and pensions. At the moment just ideas but sooner or later they will become fact.

Only after I reach retirement age....please.

Yes, they should all be on a stage...the next one out of town preferably.

I love this thread, it's almost like the reason we're in this mess is the fault of Cameron et al and not the previous administration.

I'm not saying the Tories are handling things well, but BLiar and Brown (and even the fall guy - Darling) are those responsible for us being here in the first place.

2,500 replies of me scrolling past this thread, time to have a look-see.

It's hilarious watching Cameron try to wrangle the right-wing Eurosceptics before the European elections.
Saw Hague today on the BBC scoffing at the idea of changing the relationship with the EU, mostly on grounds of plausibility. What a high-wire act for the leadership, Farage must be loving it.

Looks like it isn't only the poor who are facing the daily struggle.

Quote:

Labour leader Ed Miliband has said middle class families are facing a "crisis of confidence" over falling living standards.

Writing in the Daily Telegraph, Mr Miliband said the economic essentials that once drove and sustained the middle classes had all been undermined.

Their children's prospects must also be urgently addressed, Mr Miliband added.

The Conservatives said Mr Miliband had no plan, and offered only more spending, borrowing and taxes.

What's this guff I hear about Mr Ponzi giving £7p.h. the thumbs up? After checking into this the press seem to have slanted it as to suggest it will happen. Really?...Have the press forgot last Autumn the Libs tried to push for a rise and was blocked by the Cons. Clearly this is another stunt as we head for the general election next year, just to add company's came out with the same old statements no we can not and if forced on to us laying off workers will happen.

Moving on to Ed M...

I see after his speech £1 billion was wiped off the banks on the stock market what a suprice...NOT! Followed by the usual carping on BS and who the hell wrecked the economy with their wreckless ways and had to be bailed out the bleeding banks thats who!
