Anyway, I heard that some believe that the real translation was that they don't receive 70 (71 actually) virgins, but 71 raisins!:yeah:
Then ofc, I wonder what it really says in the Qur'an. I intend to read it one day, when I'm finished with the Bible :yep:

Actually, there is nothing in the Holy Qur'an about 72 virgins. The reward in heaven is a plot of land by a river and a chaste spouse (not chaste wife, as the reward is for both the men and the women).
It is in one of the Hadith, in fact a rather obscure Hadith which mentions the 72 virgins and yes you are quite correct, even Islamic scholars can't agree on the translation on the differentiation between 72 virgins and 72 figs. In fact, there is no reference in the Hadith (2687) about any virgins at all. What you will have is 70+2 Houri which is a pure being recreated after death. The confusion between virgins and figs is that one of the uses of the term Houri is to indicate 'Pearl like" which has also been used to describe a type of fig. The context is that your reward will also include bountiful crops.
But in any case, "mainstream" Islam considers this Hadith as "Gharib" which means strange or of questionable authority. In this meaning the approporate English word would be apocrypha. It should be noted that not all Hadith are considered canonical.
