The Premier League has approved the £4.25bn takeover of Chelsea by a consortium led by LA Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly.

The league says the consortium has passed its owner's and directors' test.

2022 England 2-1 Germany The Year of the Lioness :yeah:

Catfish 07-31-22 02:23 PM

Congratulations.. this could well have been the other way round :03:

Skybird 07-31-22 02:31 PM

Congratulations.

I watched it with one eye, not really being caught by it.

Was that handplay penalty correctly not given, or a mistake by the referees? In the TV slowmo they showed it looked like clear handplay by the English defender ?!

It was and should have been given. Also one of the best german players Alexanda Popp was not able to play due to muscle problems, another top player went out because of corona.
Both teams were good, so one can live with the outcome, and it was Wembley after all :)

I am more furious about the game against France that had turned into a french foul fest without ever been stopped by the irish referee.

I did not see the match I can however say that this will be discussed among people for years to come.

And the French were played by the Germans or the English? Would have a special taste if it were the English...

If it had been the English they'd have surrendered before kick-off :O:

It seems history has repeated itself. Such mistakes must not happen on this level, in a final. It seems the video referees had both eyes shut. Third time something like this happens to German teams (2x Wembley the English, 1x the Argentinians, Maradona's hand of God).

And from 00:30 on:

Penalty, very clearly.

But then, quite some things in football are left to amateur standards "for tradition". For example time taking. It should be done like in ice hockey, on and off when the whistle is heard, and then no overtime anymore. I have not seen the match, but I read that the time delaying by the English in the end was excessive, some commentators are furious.

Not meaning to spoil the party, its over anyway. But this is making waves over here.

Oh for ****s sake Germany, don't become like our citizens who eat sour grapes with everything, take it on the chin like a man woman, or buy a bleeding violin and play it at midnight every night so it will forever be remembered as Germanys biggest catastrophe.....until the next one happens.

Here I was thinking you were above all that losing sour grape nonsense, apparently not. :damn:

Edit
At least your women football players can say that they were much prettier to look at than some of those English lassies. :haha:

Catfish 08-01-22 03:38 PM

^ Huh? :o
Where i live all accepted the outcome, and were having a drink on England and the lionesses. Which is why today's bureau day SUCKED :wah:

Moonlight 08-01-22 04:15 PM

It seems as if some of your countrymen aren't in agreement with your area Catfish. :O:

Ah the Bildzeitung, you know this is almost like the UK Express.

On the other hand i think the irish referee's non-decisions on french fouls the game before appeared as cheating indeed, but "we" (lol) still won :smug:

Germany is used to have to be twice as good to be accepted as "equal" :O:

edit: The Postillion writes:
"How cowardly can one be? Lionesses shoot a victory goal in extra time only to avoid a penalty shoot-out"
and
"Sometimes you lose, sometimes the others win"

I doubt if it would have been any different in some UK press circles had the boot been on the other foot (no pun intended).
