Ju 88, :haha:

So far, this thing is working great. Virgin Mobile does not have any roaming, so when I go out of their range, I am back in the Middle Ages. But, last weekend on a camping trip in an area that their coverage map shows as no service, I could still call and internet, although a bit spotty. Winning!

This is the phone I switched to about 5 months ago, and I have to tell you, I love it--works quite well for everything, inexpensive, and the Virgin Mobile $35 plan includes unlimited data and text. It was $99 then,

Best Buy now has it on sale for $65.

Today I went upscale, with the LG G2. A little bigger than I like, but wow--ripping fast, and a better carrier. I can now use the phone as a Mobile hotspot to connect my laptop to the internet.

Yer braver than I sir! I'm still using my ol' Verizon Motorola flip phone cause I understand it and all my ATM tech clients are on it and can call me 24/7 and the speaker is still better(I'm half deaf). I'm too dumb for smart phones and hate technology anyhow. Tried new but went back; the new one sits in the squad console (charging) for 911 calls only. Ps update: Jitterbug has a smartphone for dummies...the worm turns!

She's a beauty Neal

About six months ago I decided to upgrade the Blackberry and it was a toss up between the LG G2 and the iPhone. Both were broadly comparable but I opted for the smaller iPhone in the end.

Just dumped the IPhone4 for Android. Cant turn back now with my new HTC One (M8), loving it.

- 10MB internal memory
- tiny tiny camera
- 1.6inch display

Man, it's been nearly a year and I can say this about my LG G2: it's awesome! It's not really a phone at all, more like a tiny PC that I can use for about 1000 things, and each makes life more interesting and better.
  • Hot spot for tethering my laptop to the internet when I need to update the site
  • Great camera
  • Great voice calls, clarity and volume
  • Sturdy-I've dropped it about a dozen times and no damage
  • Acceptable for impromptu web surfing
  • Great for reading books through the Kindle app when I don't want to bring the Kindle
  • Pretty nice for games like Minecraft, Pacific Fleet and Crash Dive.
  • Google Maps!!++++++

Well, now that you've had time to evaluate, I would like to hear your thoughts. What does the HTC do better than the iphone? Worse? Any features you were surprised by?

So, what's the verdict? Gotten used to Apple by now, I'm sure.

Yeah, I'm okay with the Apple but I don't use it for much other than sending and receiving calls but I have the apps to do on-line banking, sat nav, Google, checking up on the news and sports scores etc.

I'll never be one of those people you see walking down the street with a phone glued to their palm or ear :)

Both my offspring are now into the iPhone 6. Now that piece of kit looks really interesting but old grumpy chops here will do his usual and wait a year or so before taking the plunge :)

DragonRider 09-27-14 10:24 AM

I use a Samsung S5 and have always used a Samsung handset but the other day I had a chance to have a play with a HTC M8 and to tell the truth it is one great handset and has loads of extras to keep you busy for weeks
Oh yes and it also makes clear calls with the iPhone 6 having a few disappointing things going on and to be honest this is a real rival to Samsung as well.
This is the first time I have seriously looked to change to another make of handset. :hmmm:

I use my Jitterbug J

It just does one thing - make cell phone calls and it does it well. It helps that It stays in my car all the time. I can't take cell phones to work so anything fancy would just be a waste.

If anyone is looking for a simple cell phone, I can highly recommend it. My service plan is $24.00 per month.
