Arrowhead, BAF.
Second mission, I order the Engie out to clear the mines. He sets to on the first one and then some Mujies pop up from the rocks and open fire. They are quickly silenced, but then one of the Warrior IFVs has a bright idea and maneuvers forward and to the right, straight into one of the active mines, killing not only itself but my Engineer too. Great work treads...great work... :damn: |
Forgotten Hope 2
Operation Totalize So, there I was sitting on a road overlooking a river in my little StuG III with a Panther sitting a bit further up the hill behind me. On the other side of the river was the Allied route of advance, and between myself and the Panther we had already seen off two or three Shermans and a couple of Cromwells. It had gone quiet for a while, and I figured that most of the tank drivers on their team had figured that trying to take that route was a good way to get killed...so I thought, "I'll advance up to the next hill and hide myself near some wrecked static German vehicles to get the drop on any advancing tanks!" So, I put the StuG into gear and rolled through the ford and up the other side of the river, and up the hill, and was just about to move myself into position near the wrecks when BLAM, I exploded. What the hell killed me? The bloody Panther. :damn: He must have been blind not to have seen me cross the river and head up the hill, or stupid... :dead: |

An Oldie But Goodie...
Operation Flashpoint, 1985
There was this mission where I tagged along with an engineer to lay AT mines on a road somewhere. Then the two of us had to lay in wait for a Russian armor column to roll through and hit our mines. Our job from there was to mop up anything that survived. OFP AI being as it is, when the tanks rolled in my commander took it upon himself to fire a LAW at point blank range into the side of a passing tank. The resulting blast blew us both to shreds and the mission was a failure. Mandatory retry -- or IRL terms, a white headstone inscribed with my service branch, name and rank at the hometown cemetery. "Here lies krashkart, blasted to bits by dumb AI..." :nope: |
All of my "moments" lately have been GTA, but it's the only thing I'm really playing as of late.
Anyways, I'm bowling with Michelle, we played two games. In the first one she beat me by a good 30 points. In the second game I'm wiping the floor with her. I finish my last turn at 132 points, she's at 103. I'm pretty much thinking I have the game set, and what does Michelle do? She %&$****** rolls 3 strikes in a row. :damn: She wins by 1 point. :stare: |
Supreme Commander 2 + DLC
For those who even tried playing SupCom 2 with DLC know this feeling. It was an online match. 3v3. All of us on my team were UEF and the others were Cybran. One of the Cybran players obvously had a larger force being pumped out than the other so the team elected to nuke him. Little did we know he had boomerangs, the DLC unit that literally makes nukes turn to where they came from.:o All of us had our silos in various areas of our own bases... needless to say we lost... :damn: |
Nuke defense doesn't counter your own missiles?
|
Not sure. We had all spent our anti-nukes on a violent salvo from the Cybran team. I forgot to mention that.

Wow, that sounds like one helluva OP unit! :o

IL-2 1946 - Korean Theater of Operations
I put together a nice little BAI mission in the FMB and was hoping to send a full squadron of B-25J's over to Pusan to help drive the North Koreans off the line there. The flight was to start from an airbase in Japan and across the Tsushima Straits. Perfect, right? :DL WRONG!! :stare: I save the mission, click play and load the sim. I get my plane off the ground and set up orbit around the airfield while the rest of my squadron takes off. Everything looks great until I notice that the other planes are flying too low to make it over the hills at the end of the runway. Then one by one: *SMACK!!* "This is Two. I'm hit! I'm bailing out!" *SMACK!!* "This is Three. I'm taking damage!" *SMACK!!* "This is Four..." ...one by one my buddies fly themselves into the side of a hill. I stick around long enough to watch four or five little fireballs erupt on the side of that hill before I finally call bull and exit the sim. One hour of tedious work down the drain because the AI can't outmaneuver a terrain feature. :damn: |
One can never trust IL-2's AI to do anything right except die (and even that they often don't manage). But it wouldn't be too hard to just edit the mission and give them a waypoint to turn away, or at least have them take off from the other end of the runway if that doesn't work, would it?

Il2's AI is awfull. Simple as that.;)

Get Battle of Britain II: Wings of Victory (and patch it fully) if you don't already have it.
Hands down the best AI I've seen in a flightsim, almost scary how human it can be at times. :yep: |
