The only possible answer is Roy Keane :)

United are a mess, firing Solksjaer but retaining the backroom staff is silly. Ole's not a coach, doesn't really pick the team nor set them up tactically. He's gone, sacrificially, but the men who are also at the center of their crisis remain. Woodward, Mckenna, Carrick, Phelan. All of them should have been sacked.

To sack Ole with no permanent manager ready to step in shows how rudderless they are, and suggests this will get worse before it will get better.

At least Woodward's gone in a month right? Silver linings and all, but I'd be fine if they signed him up for another stint in charge.

Cabbage in Carrington.

That seals it.

They have a CL-match tomorrow (11/23) against villarreal
and a PL match against Chelsea on Sunday (11/28)

So it is to be seen if sacking Solkjaer was the right thing.

I think it's clear it was the right thing to do.

But the timing's wrong
Having no replacement is wrong
Signing him to a three-year extension just four months ago was wrong
Signing him to be permanent manager after his early good results was wrong (and not necessary at that time)

A poor run of results now is not proof they should have retained Solksjaer. He had to go. He was out of his depth for a club like this.

He meant well, but that doesn't win titles.

Be interesting to see Keane getting the job after having slagged half the team off on television as a pundit in recent times but somehow I doubt that will ever happen.

Well, man utd proved me wrong by keeping ole for more than 2 seasons. Now will they prove me right by keeping woodward until the end of the universe?

Jimbuna 11-26-21 05:41 AM

Looking like the interim manager will be Ralf Rangnick.

Woodward's out next month I think. This will be the best thing to happen to United (depending on his replacement of course). Woodward has been a unmitigated disaster in my view.

Von Due 11-26-21 05:46 PM

Everything has been a disaster for man u ever since the new ownership. I have no particularly warm feelings for man u but it sure must be painful for their fans how the club has deteriorated the past 10-ish years. SAF can't be happy either. Long time ago he was in charge.

I think any TOON fan would happily swap places.

Eddie Howe talks without his teeth moving. It's impressive. Perfect diction with his teeth clenched together like his jaw is wired shut.

Not looking much different for Newcastle at the mo. What did you think of the team selection Jimbuna? It's no disgrace to lose at the Emirates (not that they will mind) but so far they look unlikely to come out on top.

This project will take some time I reckon. They need a good window.

Jimbuna 11-27-21 09:21 AM

It's a miracle they need.

Now in four minutes added time and two nil down.

Threadfin 11-27-21 11:41 AM

Yeah, I didn't expect them to get anything out of this game, but you never know when a new manager comes in. But they didn't get much bounce did they? Big task ahead of Howe, and he'll need a few results to win the supporters over.

The next two matches are key to drag themselves off the bottom. Norwich then Burnley. Because after that it's Leicester, Liverpool and both Manchester clubs before the fixture list softens a bit.

Liverpool in action now against Southampton. Taking care of business. Finally I get to see my first-choice eleven. Konate over Matip, yes please, and Thiago back in form. The midfield of Fabinho, Thiago and Henderson is a little off, as all three are players who play best in the center of the park. But they make it work, and that's two in two for Thiago. Such a smooth footballer, he is.

Jota up front. I'm a big fan of Firmino, such a smart player, but Jota's just a better finisher. Firmino has great link-up, all the flicks and tricks. He'd thrive I think in a partnership with a poacher-type striker. But Liverpool don't play that way and Jota does a better job of finding space and putting away his chances.

Come on West Ham! And a draw or United win tomorrow please.

Today saw the commencement of the removal of the Sports Direct signs from St James' Park and not a day too soon for the vast majority of TOON supporters.
