Never had such problem with my hand in the past and i hope it is going to come back soon because i crave doing my intensive modeling session.

I had a similar issue a couple of years back, but in my case it was due to overwork and too much stress. For me, finding a better balance was the key to recovery. I know it's hard to slow down and take a step back, but every now and then our bodies tell us to do just that.

All the best for a speedy recovery my friend! :sunny:

For the news i am glad to announce that the type IXC/40 is done at 90% and that it will go to the paint shop as soon as i finish the type IIA interior texture work so the type IX/40 should show up not long after release and if lucky it will be ready for official release date.

Hi mate,

I will try something i found on the internet it is an ergonomic mouse carpet with V-shape wrist support people who use it say in most case it solve their problem and it is affordable at 29.99 so i will give it a try to see if i can fix my hand issue.

I never felt so powerless in all my life not being able to do what i love so much i sympathize greatly with disable folks who live on a daily base with handicap.

Regarding the IXC/40 U-805 doesn't seem to have the 4 pressure containers on deck i can find pic that show them any advise on it?

Best regards Hans

kurfürst 10-19-11 06:59 AM

Horrido Hans,
those four pressure tight containers were meant for
inflateble dinghis/ life rafts (hope i get the right english
word for that). They are indicated in every drawing of
type IX C/40, but have never been build in reality.
So I would disregard them in your model,
I haven't seen a single picture of a IX C showing
that detail. I know of one boat, U-889, which had
two containers on the back of the conning tower,
like the VII C/ 41 had.

Update

Hi shipmates,

Unfortunately it is now the fourth day my hand is totally useless i can't do any work at all until it get better and in the worst case scenario i found out that some 3d artists have switch to a Wacom graphic tablet and this completely replace the mouse but take about a month to get use to it and it is a costly last resort solution at roughly 400 $ but those who made the switch said they would never use a mouse again.

You do all your stuff via a pen instead of a mouse.

So if thing doesn't improve soon i will have to think about that new avenue in my workflow after all this is my bread and butter job also.

Make me furious to not being capable of resuming work but i have no choice for the moment.

Best regards Hans

Hi Hans old friend,

Sorry to hear your hand is no better mate, regarding the graphic tablet. Although I have no personnal experience using one, other than playing about. Some of my work collegues use one all the time (Graphics Industry) and swear by one. I really hope your hand heals soon mate, wether you go graphic tablet route or not. All the best and take care of yourself Hans.

Best regards.

Horrido Hans,

I feel much the same way, (hard to live without it), so hang in there and hopefully things will improve soon. :sunny:

Herr Witteman, you old sailor, hope you'll get better soon.

And don't force it. Relax keep you old bones warm and let your magic hand rest on a fluffy red pillow! :D

And you'll be straight as rain in no time! :salute:

urfisch 10-21-11 05:39 AM

give your hand a break, hans!

:timeout:

they are right. health is important and needs its attention. i also had a problem with my hand during to much mouse-photoshop-work...after a week slowing down and using cremes, my hand got better. i am more carefully since. using good tools for work, like a ballmouse...is a good investment!

:salute:

Hans Witteman 10-21-11 09:46 AM

Hi shipmates,

Thank for all the good words and i have to admit that sometime we all have some issues that force us to slow down.

I am reading a lot the recent days on carpal tunnel syndrome and the more i read the more i think it is something else like a severe tendinitis to the wrist because i don't have the symptoms from carpal tunnel syndrome.

Today my hand is a little bit better but i can still feel the pain the minute i use the mouse too much so i will wait for serious improvement before resuming work i don't want to make thing worst.

Be careful guy's think about your posture also on your desktop to avoid those pesky hand problems.

Best regards Hans

No worries Hans, take your time - no point risking more injury to the hand.
Its best to let things heal then to aggravate the affected area.
Just think of this as the suspense moment before the goodies are shown :D.

Hi mate,

At this point i have no other choice then waiting for recovery and i am so piss off looking at my screen without the possibility to finish what i was working on.

The positive point in this is that now i start to see where my physical limit are bound and i will try to respect my capacity.

Working and modding in a sitting position for more than 14 to 17 hr a day is not a healthy life style.

Best regards Hans
