I went all the way to 1200 ft with help of Japanese DD gun hit to engine department before pressure hull broke. I'd call it damn deep dive even for Balao. :p

At least when reloading the save I think I can risk 600 ft. :D Just have to remember to press A when satisfied with depth...:p Or maybe "Emergency Surface"...

Thanks for the ever getting better RFB mod, much appreciated. one thing I have noticed though, is that when I lock on a target at periscope, it loses the lock after a second or so. Is the deliberate now?

Thanks

Andy

Yeah that is how it worked in TMO. I dont think this is in RFB. The functionality was achieved by renaming the "radar depth" feature to "Rig planes for deep dive" and setting the radar depth value to 700ft.

While I am making some great suggestions... :ping:

Here is a clip from a patrol report from the USS Drum. (the Major Defects Expereinced section)

(b) Radar

(1) SD Radar - The performance of the SD radar was unsatisfactory. Two (2) planes were sighted in this area, but no indications were obtained on the radar. Its operation appeared normal in every respect.

(2) SJ Radar - The SJ radar was superb until after the attack of 9-10 April. From that time on, performance was erratic.

You guys did a great job making the SJ Radar behave erratically, especially in bad weather. However, the SD radar is supernatually flawless. I have never been attacked by a plane since the SD is always faithful.

A quirky SD radar set would add to the suspence. Any way to simulate that?

Thanks again folks!

Good work on the periscope FOV fix. One question though: Were you able to increase the viewable area on the periscope station to get the increased FOV? Or did you simply decrease the zoom to increase FOV?

So if the sub is designed to go to 600ft you wouldnt go to it if the Japanese are depth charging you and there may be a thermal at 550ft cause that is a insane depth :hmm::hmm:

That kind of thinking is what is insane.

Sir, there is a rhetorical device you may not have heard about, but with which, I believe, it is time you became familiar. It is called humor. I find you guilty of lack of a sense of humor (and not reading the entire post) and hereby sentence you to find five different forty year old Shelley Berman LP's and listen to each of them at least five times.

When you are done, not only will you talk in a Maxwell Smart-like voice, but you will be funny. Holy crap! There is a Shelley Berman website? This could be easier than I thought! I recommend his album A Personal Appearance, now available on CD. Please hurry. Your condition is terminal!

If you ment humor then I am sorry, I didnt pick up on it, maybe now that I read it knowing humor was meant I see it. Again, sorry, didnt mean to offend, sorry if I did. So I take it that with the current RFB there is No way to dive deeper than the 450 unless somehow we remap a key?

I see..... Time to double up the Shelley Berman! Like I said, I think the best thing would be ctrl-; so it couldn't be hit by accident at high TC. You die in under five seconds. There's no way you can react fast enough to save yourself.

We're working on getting this fixed for the next patch. So, far, our testing has been quite successful so I think you'll see this remedied in either the next patch, or RFB release.

Cheers!

DeepIron - good to hear that this is getting fixed - its been a real pain when I lock something and go to input settings and come back and its gone! I did read in the manual where this was an expected behavior - but I will be happy when I can lock a target for more than 2 seconds again.

The tentative plan right now is to release the patch minus any changes to the environment and AI sensors, thus fixing some of the biggest issues the mod currently has. With that out of the way, we can then focus more on getting "just right" the environmental and AI spotting features of the mod.

It just might be possible.

Yes, I was able to increase the viewable area. The zoom values are still at their historical values (1.5x / 6x)

Many thanks. I will look forward to this. Keep up the good work.

Happy to hear about the periscope fixes.

Does this next patch need to be applied in port? I'm about to start a patrol right now, so I'm wondering if I should take a couple days R&R.

With the latest RFb version, does it include PE 4 or do I install that seperatelly?

It is included.

Flybywire 12-02-08 01:59 PM

Thanks for the reply. Would I install RSRD via the previous instructions? RSRD_v1.5_v395_RCS, RSRD_v395 Patch 4, RSRD_AuxGB Fix. Also do you know if RUIM is included in RFB 1.52?
