I remember I picked up the first HOI at a local boot fair (err...not sure what the equivalent would be in the US...yard sale, maybe?) and then found the anthology edition of the second whilst on holiday. Pretty awesome box, with a world map and a little Paradox medal to go with it.
Really must conscript Raptor and the gang into a HOI3 game so he can teach me how to actually play it, I'm so used to 2 that 3 is difficult for me.

I can teach you a little bit...just what I've learned from Raptor and playing the demo over and over again.

I really must get the full game though.

That doesn't work well in EU3...

Suddenly you have a war with England and France with a failing economy and basically no military power.

Trust me....

Steam Sale Problems....

Stealhead 10-17-13 10:03 PM

Actually it is a clever marketing strategy. They know that most people are going to buy a few games on sale that they really want and then each publisher some games in their library will be at or maybe 10% or 5% below normal and many people will buy that game as well. You can easily wind up buying over $100.00 in games if you are not careful.

Kind of like car dealers they know that you are spending money so when they offer extra things 80% of buyers will also take extra stuff as well.

I wish Steam would do something that GoG does.At GoG for the games that are part of a series they will have a list of the other related games and you can buy all of them for a discounted price.Thing is lets say you just want two of the games well you can just buy those two out of the series and you still get a discount. You just have to put the entire list in your cart and then close out the titles that you do not want and keep the ones you do.

Very nice if you want to try out or revisit a game series you played in the past but you are not sure if you want them all or not.

Steam is so huge though I doubt that they will do that or something like the Blue chips that Gamers Gate gives you.

I can't overbuy and spend a lot of money if I don't have a credit card linked to my account. :03:

I know they do sales and how they work...but I didn't think Halloween was important enough to have a big sale...or will it be a big sale? :hmmm:

Herr-Berbunch 10-18-13 02:18 AM

I figured that...

Still excited though...I have no idea what I want. I guess it just depends what's on sale.

Crécy 10-29-13 01:16 PM

Steam Halloween sale kicked off.

Herr-Berbunch 10-29-13 03:08 PM

Any of them any good?

NeonSamurai 10-29-13 05:23 PM

meh nothing much came up that interested me or that I would consider a good sale.

Red October1984 10-29-13 06:09 PM

Eh. That's a pretty disappointing sale.

F.E.A.R. looks relatively interesting...but not worth $2.49

Nippelspanner 10-29-13 06:36 PM

What?

- Sleeping Dogz
- Paranormal
- L4D 1+2
- Penumbra
- Deadlight
- Amnesia 1+2
- Slender the Arrival
- Another World (!)
- Zafehouse diarrhea
- Outlast
- Alan Wake
- Sid Meier's Pirates (!)
- Borderlands
- The Walking Dead (Adventure, not the crappy FPS)
- Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition (!)
- Don't Starve

And most of these titles come very, very cheap.
Hell, how is this not a good sale?

Only one on that list i'm interested in is Borderlands because i've never played it and it sounds cool.

I have F:NV, L4D 1+2, several Indie Slender games, and I don't really see The Walking Dead as a useful purchase. I'm a sucker for a good zombie game...but I'm not convinced on TWD.

NeonSamurai 10-29-13 08:55 PM

- Sleeping Dogz (have it)
- Paranormal (not my kind of game)
- L4D 1+2 (have it)
- Penumbra (not my kind of game)
- Deadlight (meh, has zero replayability)
- Amnesia 1+2 (not my kind of game)
- Slender the Arrival (not my kind of game)
- Another World (not interested)
- Zafehouse Diaries (pass)
- Outlast (not my kind of game)
- Alan Wake (have it)
- Sid Meier's Pirates (have it)
- Borderlands (have it)
- The Walking Dead (have it)
- Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition (have it)
- Don't Starve (have it)

most of the games have been on sale in the last 6 months for similar prices. I was hoping that the stalker series would come again as I got screwed out of the sale the last time it came up thanks to steam randomly deciding to refuse purchases from me and not fixing it until the day after the sale ended (and telling me tough luck). There are some I am potentially interested in, but they are either not on sale for low enough (i generally only pick up 66%+ off sales) or the base game is too expensive. I don't buy new releases any more and won't touch DLC until it is seriously reduced.

I am considering picking up the Super House of Dead Ninjas: True Ninja Pack DLC, Legacy of Kain Collection, and Prototype I (but not 2). But rather slim pickings all in all.
