A wildfire is not a 1st Amendment exercise.

The precedent is that if anyone says anything that anyone disagrees with, then they need to be billed for security charges.

Or is it only with groups like Muslims who are legitimate security threats merely by membership in a religion? Anyone accepting this "bill" accepts that Muslims are de facto, legitimate security threats—offend any muslim, and murder might happen. Do you agree with that?

It's been proven time and again that someone will die if the raging hordes see or hear anything that offends their superior dignity. Hear about that gal that went into hiding because they got upset over her "Draw Mohammed" page? Meanwhile it is perfectly okay in their book to hijack airplanes and blow up marketplaces full of mothers and children. We cannot confront them and point out how stupidly they are behaving... for what good might come of it. (Kinda frustrating, actually) :-?

Anyway, back to the original point: better for Jones to pay for his security than to dump the mess into our laps. Aren't LE agencies underfunded as it is? :rotfl2:

I would be interested in reading the legal precedence for charging for security.

If the county chose to spend 180K on security, how can an individual be financially responsible?

The individual did not make, nor did they have the authority to make, the decision to spend 180K. Officials of the county made, and had the authority to make the decision to spend 180K.

Even if the individual asked for "security" from the county, charging them for it would require either an agreement allowing the charging or a regulation requiring the charging. I am not aware of either occurring.

This is an interesting legal question that has ramifications.

From a practical stand point it is moot as this church is bankrupt and in default of other obligations. I doubt this church can scrape up $1,800 no less 180K?

A city with a leadership of one party—say Washington DC—might charge outrageous security fees for political rallies that are counter to their political POV.

Really bad idea.

Everything has its price, which IMO he and his supporters should have thought of that before this started that this has implications not only in FL, but in many other ways, even if he is an idiot, you can probably think of a person "also

It's explicitly protected, political speech. Being charged for it is without question infringement of his freedom of expression.

Pastor Who Burned Koran Says He Was Duped Into Holding Back

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The pastor who stoked violence in Afghanistan earlier this month by burning a Koran in March produced a recording on Saturday that he said proved he was deceived last September when he agreed to cancel plans to burn 200 copies of the Koran.

The pastor, Terry Jones, played the recording — which he said was made on Sept. 9 on his assistant’s iPhone — of a conversation between him and Imam Muhammad Musri, an Islamic leader in Florida. At the time, Mr. Musri was trying to persuade Mr. Jones not to burn the Korans as part of a demonstration on Sept. 11.

After the Sept. 9 meeting, Mr. Jones announced that as part of a deal brokered by Mr. Musri to relocate a proposed Islamic center near ground zero in New York, he would not burn the 200 Korans. But almost immediately after the announcement, Mr. Musri, who had attended a news conference with Mr. Jones, told reporters that he had made no such deal and no such promise. The pastor, he said, had backed down because of pressure from President Obama and the rest of the world.

“This does definitely prove he lied to the news media and has lied the whole time,” Mr. Jones said from behind his desk, on which rested a pistol, a Bible and a rental copy of the film “Se7en.”

hmm, I wonder if the guy will end up imitating se7en

Do you think Jones was a little upset at Musri saying the pastor was the same as Anjem Choudray?
So that would be a small minded bigot with twisted religious views no real following and a insane desire to get on the news by announcing dumb stunts.:yep:
Come to think of it are Choudray and Jones just a pair of dumb stunts?

Gee burning is so old school, how about thrown into a wood chipper and blown up a pigs butt.

Lady Gaga apparently has a song considered "blasphemous" by the Catholic League. When the inevitable murders take place (blasphemy is "fighting words, right?), will she be blamed for her blasphemy, or will the press blame the poor people incited to violence by her lack of respect?

Lady Gaga only does what she does for publicity and gaining market share for her crap music. It is all about album sales for Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta
