I do agree, in ME2 you're stuck that you probe and landed...but at least I skipped the crappy part where I looked at a landscape that was uninspiring for that alone screw the mako rides. probing the planets well, I never focused on it...and mixed it in between the missions when I felt like upgrading some stuff, it's a crappy job but someone has to do it. also those ME1 side missions....:damn: land, roam around that awfull landscape and do physically impossible things with the mako to get as fast to the location you need to be....just to get to the same kind of bunker or warehouse to kill some badies that hardly contribute anything to the actual story...it's crap like that that makes ME1 replay value having the same crapfactor as probing the planets in ME2...it's something you dont want to do...but it's neccesary to get some more exp, money/resources or some items and ofcourse the feeling that you don't leave too much out when you end the game. the combat in ME1 is horrible, when ever I REALLY want to cover it doesn't and whenever I want to charge I passed a wall or hit a boc or something I went into cover when I didn't want too :damn: that stupid crap costed me countless times of loading save game and start a bit back and just getting more and more frustated. Also if you take a different class which isn't trained to use let's say a sniper rifle and/or assault rifle...why do I carry that/those damn thing(s) around just to screw me up whenever in combat and want to switch weapon with my mousewheel and scroll the wrong way and get the damn weapon(s) I can't use. also what's up with the sniper rifle in ME1? I hated it....in ME2 it's at least something that's stable and you can properly aim with it. the ME1 inventory, too much crap....couldn't they list it with counters as in let's say Ammo Piercing rounds x 5 , Heat Sink II x 2 or something? no you get this endless craplist of junk which is hard to sort out when you don't feel like wasting your time to get +5% more damage. I was glad that I didn't had that crap in ME2. the story in ME1 is indeed a bit more satisfying in the end, it gives you a good feeling. ME2 story does more explaining but the ending is a bit duller then 1 but I see it in between and you want to get to the 3th game right away to have the total story of Mass Effect the end bosses....they both suck...Saren is easy as hell heck I had more dificulty to kill Benezia with those Geth Snipers and Asari commando's around you...with saren just walk around the track near the wall sideways and keep shooting him...it's a no brainer...same goes for big ass reaper in ME2...but he's easier...as he's too slow cover, shoot , cover shoot cover shoot. I like both games, both have their pros and cons, I find ME1 a bit more frustating here and there HunterICX |
Saren, easy HA... took me 40 mins to kill him because of the funny red gernade things he kept throwing. Hell, I died 3 times.
and the new cover system... shepard in ME2 was stuck to the wall when I wanted him to run. killed me over 10 times because he wouldnt move. |

also, poor shepard forgot to crouch in death...:wah: Poor shepard, suffering from altimers and he is still under 40.
I also found the second game felt like it wasnt letting me explore. it was very linear, and felt like I was running in a tunnel. I know I did one mission where I went to a planet, pressed 4 buttons and left! :{O Tho I did like Omega. *and to add to ma little rant. The new weapons system, sucked in my opinion, yeas the weapon aamo powers were better, its easyer to press 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 to do a power than choose it from the equipment screen. but the gun upgrades didnt really do it for me. Never knoticed them much. just a gun that sucked just abit less. and the aamo system... they could have done it better. have heat sinks, have them heat up as in ME1, but have them be effective. over time it starts to build up heat quicker because it is getting old, and you have to eject it and add a new one. and when you runout you can still fire but it builds up quicker. And if you overheat the gun, you can keep fireing but you can damage the gun, to the point evenualy where it stops working/ malfunctioning, and you have to get a new one from the ship. I know I died afiew times because of the new aamo system, and running out. |
I agree with Hunter on all points. But as I said, I'm playing on a console; from what I'm reading if I had ME2 on the PC I might feel a little differently ;)

I would say some of the gameplay is better in the second game, yes the combat is abit more streamlined, and the sniper rifles dont wobble like crazy (tho in ME2 they are way to stable) my main issue would be with the story, an example would be when you are attacking the ship, shepard says for joker to close in on them... BIG mistake. which *******s the mission that otherwise seems to go off without a problem.
*Also anouther issue, alot of people didnt wear armor. Those clothes must have some great bullet proof propertys! IIRC the only people who do have armor are garrus, shepard, zaeed, grunt, legion... and I think thats it. a good example is Samara, yea, she has a biotic barrier, but when she looses that, and is down to health. she just has that silly suit between her and a hail of projectiles. It dosent feel like we are fighting with a "group of soldiers who are ready for a fight" |

and now something good that I have to say about ME2 (lair of the shadow broaker trailer)! looks like it will be pretty good. |
:haha:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOiadBeRCpg I nearly fell of my chair just walking to joker and get to hear this. :har: HunterICX |

Lol, yep, joker is a much better (and funnier) character in this game.
And in other news... Lair of the shadow broaker was pretty good. tho It could have been longer, had abit more conversation. But I will say I was not expecting what the shadow broaker was. |

(ME1 sovereign speach... in german.) I must say, sovereign sounds much creepyer in german, the characters not so much. |
