A newbie wants to know how to run SHIII under Windows 7

Ok so i have reviewed ALL the posts about running SHIII under Windows 7. I have tried all that I can find, and still the game hangs up after the first two splash screens. then the red bar goes all the way to the right, and then....Windows tells me that the program has quit working and is looking for a solution on the web. I have installed the game fresh. installed the 1.4b patch. Used the Starforce removal tool. I even downloaded 6 new files as posted in a previous post. Still quits. I also turned down my laptop resolution to 1024x768.
Can someone take me from a to z on this procedure. I have wasted money buying wolves of the pacific and wolves of the pacific gold. Both a waste of money.
Help

Er, Wolves of the Pacific is SH4?

And what are your laptop's specs, as they are usually pants at playing games. :hmmm:

Yes, That's an SH4 Game.
Post in the SH4 forums as they would know better how to advise you.

Welcome aboard mate! :sunny:

As stated previously, WOTP is SH4 so if that's the correct title you'd be more likely to get assistance here:

Good luck and I hope you get it sorted! :sunny:

Windows 7 Arghhhhh

I hae just installed SHIII on a windows 7 Ultimate system, I get the start up sequence and then it all goes black. Windows then pops up the message that the program cannot start.

I have tried running in XP mode (which works on my laptop OK). to no avail.

Any help please.

Are there circumstances in which graphics, and ram memory, please post your spec here, so it may be easier to possibly determine the cause, and welcome to SubSim, :salute:

Are you getting the movies that play during startup, or does it go black just as the videos should start? There is sometimes an issue with the little videos not playing properly, I can't remember exactly why - conflicts with codecs or software or something, but it will cause everything just to freeze up at that point and the game never loads. Usually the easiest solution is just to delete the movies from the game installation and that way they don't even try to play and it solves the problem (if that is indeed the issue).

Fish In The Water 11-26-11 09:15 PM

Welcome aboard Geoff! :sunny: As FK said, try disabling the movies and see if it loads. Good luck! :yep:

barney 11-28-11 02:40 PM

I have disabled the movies and still get black freeze after loading.

Gerald 11-28-11 02:46 PM

There are several possible options that it does not work properly, disabled movies ... was only one thing, how it looks when it comes to your second spec, in the computer and conditions.

Jimbuna 11-28-11 04:04 PM

Welcome Big-Geoff....post your system specs and we'll see if there is anything obviously wrong.

barney 11-28-11 10:48 PM

Please check my specs as well, thank you:

Try updating your graphics drivers and if that doesn't work go to an older driver version.
