But they have changed from a initial basic construction stones to very special parts that belong to certain models. The new special mechanical constructions don't look right at all to me, Fischer technics is much better for that. But yes i still somehow like it :03:
As a child i had tons of it and built all kinds of stuff, then gave it away to my nephew.

I used to think the same. Just a few years ago. Before the second LEGO phase happened :D
I used to look at sets and think that the pieces are so set specific that you really can't use two cars to build a boat, like you could during my ''first LEGO phase'' when I was a child.

But after I got a few new sets I realised that's not the case.

Observe my case in 2 images.
This is a star wars mini advanced TIE fighter set

And when you pull it apart into separate pieces you can see that there's really not much we haven't seen since childhood.

The only 2 specific peices (to the right) are just basic pieces with set specific decals

And to drive the case home, I took 10min and made a submarine from only the pieces from the TIE fighter set

The pilot is not happy :)

What I noticed is that they aded a new axis of construction. Once you built things from bottom up and these days you rotate the set during construction and add things from the side of bottom.

Very good Betonov ... you should start a thread called "Lego 101" for beginners.

I've seen some really smart people make really big and wonderful projects, but they just sit there on the shelf or over the fire place for weeks, months and even years just to be admired and collect dust.

I say tear them apart and use them over and over again :yep:

My LEGO skills pale into childsplay against some people out there

Although a LEGO dedicated thread sounds like a good idea.

^ Let's stay on a naval theme in the LEGO thread

Holy Crap the size of some of these projects are insane! I never got into the whole lego mind storm stuff but it looks like people have made some pretty interesting things, IE working submarines!

Intro Georgemeister

Hey Guys

My name is George, I am 23 years old and I recently developed a fascination with submarines and submarine games. I was reading about the cuban missile crisis. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_Missile_Crisis) After that I watched "The Hunt For Red October" starring Sean Connery.

I really want to find the most immersive submarine game. Hopefully you guys will be able to help me out:)

Thanks,
George
