I can plainly remember the Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile Crisis, Yuri Gagarin and Laika, first dog in space. The day JFK got killed, Martin Luther King and Woodstock. All that stuff really happened. I'm a product of the hippie generation, now 57 years old.

Must be the oldest of the bunch

Just turned 74. Ex Air Force Flight Surgeon, F-100s et al, watched the Berlin Wall go up and go down, remember the Korean war (which is largely forgotten), had a father with Chennault and the AVG in Kunming. Much experience modding combat flight sims (no surprise there) and started with SHI. I find the modding, code modifications, challenges of technic, and the learning curve quite satisfying. Am impressed with the commitment to quality programming and patience with questions I find in the SH3 (and in the flight sim) world most commendable. Hat off to all of you experienced modders (Jimbuna, Lehman, Racerboy, the GWX and NYGM teams...and the others whose names escape me) we all benefit from your fine work.

43. Played my first computer game in a shop in sheffield on the way to a games workshop site. apple star trek game. my first computer dragon 32 which i learnt to program on. first program I wrote was a D&D character generator. Now program for a living.
First major game that blew my socks off.. wolfenstein 3d...you could actually look around corners:D
Still can play doom in my head every level of the shareware version. Favourite games Doom2, Doom3(mod of doom), Civ , AOD, SH3, EU3, Crusader Kings, SimCity and my latest fave Space Rangers 2

Major gripes of the computing industry.. Multplayer is the focus against AI for single player... MP is far easier to program for. Whereas AI is not worth the investment.
Graphics adds to the immersion factor but has lost out to gameplay. I am now at the stage where I can honestly say bugger the new games wait for bargin bin.. whearas I used to buy a game a month..

Life? Don't talk to me about Life.............................................. .......................

25. Started the computer back when the AMSTRAD CPC 6128 was at its glory then switched to a 386 and pentium and so on...
As far as subsim, gone from wolfpack to AOD through all Silent hunter games and 688/ sub command.
As for other games, Flight simulator series and also was an avid fan of morrowind/oblivion ( a little less for the last one).
I also play a lot Red Orchestra

a lot of old games, :yep: and the gold age of the simulator era.
when the games come with a box, maps, book manual , one or two floppy disk , and a lot of gameplay inside

And others more recently like medal of honor, wolfenstein, call of duty..

LewinskY: How on earth did you put together that "graphic" of the Oral Office and Slick Willie with an apple-bobbing Monica? A world classic.

What a fantastic relief to find myself on a forum made up of many mature members :D. I have frustratingly spent the last 18 months on a lesser games forum putting up with spam, flames, trolls, ignorance and stupidity from many younger members on a daily basis. Great also to see the calibre of posts from the younger members here. Call me judgemental or ageist, I care not, but God bless Subsim
