Task Force 08-28-10 04:10 AM

Ok, so Ive played through the game 2 times now. and I must say. im a bit dissapointed with it. The first time through I just wanted to see how things would go, didnt pay attention to the story really.

But now that I actualy payed attantion to the story. It feels quite weak. If I didnt know better id think it was a family talk show where everyone tells the host about their problems, and they go take care of it.

Some how I feel the first game had a different writer, or something along those lines because of how different these games feel. also In my first playthrough I never knoticed how dummed down it feels. Almost like a 3rd person shooter with some RPG stuff added. also anouther dissapointment is the lack of exploration. I actualy miss the mako.

The final part of the game also is too easy. Even on Insanity I only managed to get killed twice because of those stupid husks.

Oah well, I hope they dont mess the third game up, and that the end boss is less annoying.

Arclight 08-28-10 07:33 AM

They went a bit overboard. :yep:

Inventory in 1 was terrible, so they took it out completely. Some kind of management would have sufficed.

Planetary exploration in the Mako was too time-consuming, so they took it out completely. Taking a shuttle down to scan the planet up close would have been an option, landing or launching a mako to check places of interest afterwards.

Elevators took too long, so they went back to loading screens. Maybe they could have optimized the elevator system. At least it was a good place for some banter or hearing a news broadcast. (I honestly rarely used the news stations in ME2)

Task Force 08-28-10 12:34 PM

Yea, but myself, oddly liked the mako. It was different. just wish they refined the planet stuff. the main issue was the planets themselfs, with 80 degree angles, and no plant life of any kind. (and dont get me started about that stupid hammerhead)

Even tho The guns in the first game was just copyed and pasted, at least as you leveled up they did get better. you just use the same old fiew guns for most of the 2nd game. (and the shotguns suck from my experience)

I must say tho, im glad about those damn elevators, tho I often have loading screens longer than they were.

*Extreme spoilers!

Here we go, This series of vedios basicly covers some of the ME2 issues.

Arclight 08-29-10 05:57 PM

Though it does have it's own issues... why doe people assume there's only 1 more Reaper, for example? By the game's definition alone, it's a race. Kinda implies there's more than one, right?

Task Force 08-29-10 07:22 PM

you talking about the "reapers" the squidy things, or the human thing

http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__...aper_fleet.png
Yea, theres more than one.
(I must say sovereign looked cooler.)

SgtPotato 08-30-10 08:53 AM

I'll bet you can count how many reapers in this picture, task. :arrgh!:

I agree the end boss was ridiculously easy, but I really felt like it was a giant, massive monster smashing up the little pancake I was sitting on. Maybe it was just me, but I thought they got the sense of scale right. (Then again I was playing on a projector screen :smug:)

Also agree with Arclight on all points (Except maybe inventory... :shifty:), although at least the loading times were mercifully short compared to ME1.

old termanoid! about to get a nuke in his face!(sorry about size, are have to fix it eventualy.)

In the end, sovereign wins! (Harbinger dosent come close, has a really stupid voice, and dosent realy seem too "alien" more like a winey kid.)

I also found Saren was a harder boss, and that the first games music was better

It was quicker in the first game for me. the elevators werent really all too long, but for me I was in loading screens for quite alot of time.

Definitely agree on Saren, but I kinda prefer the new theme. The old one I didn't much care for, just not to my tastes. But that's just me.

Well I'm playing on an Xbox, dunno if that has any effect on it.

Falkirion 08-30-10 06:35 PM

Xbox version can run similar to the PC, loading times can be mitigated if you install the game first.

Saren was definitely the hardest boss in ME1. Still great that you could make him do something before the battle if you had a high enough paragon/renegade rating.

I like the music in ME1 more than ME2, but the sound tracks in both are pretty damn good.

Wolfehunter 08-30-10 09:55 PM

First game was better all around. Second was a cheap cop out. Sure better graphics and sound effects. But story sucked. I give ME2 better Character interaction that was an improvement over ME1. I like Jokers relationship with AI. Some nice catchy dialogue was a bonus.

But the game combat and total rape of the first version. really sucked.. I like the mako explorations. I like the scenery. Sure there was some repetitive textures. But over all it was nice. Now if you like clicking a 2D drop anal probs on planets for hours... i'll choose the mako any day.

I fear ME3 will suck even more. I've given up on it ME2. Fun factor ended really fast at the final combat with the T-100000 Contra cyborg that looks like a bad atari game from the 80's. Pathetic....

ME was great for a console game. I hate console games but ME passed.

ME2 sucked royally. Total console conversion. Why they put it on PC? Oh ya money... I forgot. :nope:

yep, my thoughts also. and have the same feelings about ME3.

oah well, maby the third time will be the charm.:hmmm:

and also, where are my ME1 decisions? what, all I get is a email, no real effect? it dosent feel like its a series, it feels like stand alones. that dont seem to really tie in all to much. I just hope there is less "hey shepard, my daddy is gonna do X could you help me with it"

also I hope he old characters do not get Liaraed, the part she had... well sucked. along with garrus, other than in 2 parts of the games he is working on the guns... those must be some high maintnence guns.
