back home

Hello everyone. I am back after… what 5-6 years? Back to read the forum, hope/want maybe back to the game. I tried the SH online last week, well… stopped after 2 days and drove over to SUBSIM to see how SH5 evolved. I am impressed !! I admire what people made of it. So enjoyable, challenging and yet playable !! I been playing WOT for 2 years.. but, this is not the same. Noth to replace the excitement and mood you gain with playing SH. I have my purchased copy of SH5 on the desk and I see the challenge of reading all the forums. I just don’t know where to begin with… J

JIVA

Hello all. JIVA is my moniker. Don't recall if I intro myself a while back. Anyhow here I am possibly again. Been playing SH since the beginning. Best playing times where SH/DC a number of years ago. Playing a against a human player is always the best and makes each mission unique. I was so disappointed when Dc was never carried forward and lost interest in each succeeding version after the AI was so predictable. The coop WP options was fun for a while. Consequently I never even bothered with SH5. However after reading here I may get into it. My SH playing right now is with SHO. Very interesting but al the work is in managing upgrades to the boats. Still waiting again an hoping for DC to be included going forward. Yet I just love sub sims and SH is by far my most favorite. Just wondering if there still is anybody playing SH/DC. Well good hunting and hope to see you all in SH5 or SHO.

Hi all,

I LOVED and still carry fond memories of playing Silent Service on my NES. After many years of unsuccessfully trying to fill a Silent Service "shaped" hole in my gaming life (most recently with Battlestations Midway & Pacific, which were fun but so, so "arcade-y" and shallow) I finally converted to pc gaming; discovering the Silent Hunter series only last year (due to stumbling upon of this very website looking for Sub games) is actually why I decided to save and get a gaming rig. I'm really enjoying SH4 & parts of 5-though I see now why mods for SH are so popular as 5 especially is just... dreadful at times.

P.S. I fully recognize the irony of a former grunt (i.e. Army) being more interested in Submarine (i.e. Navy) sims than say the latest modern military shooter!:arrgh!:
