In order to fit new exhausts /which are bit longer than original resin exhausts/ the cables were cut out, and will be repositioned.

Before the ribbing work begin on the portside the pipework was moved slightly away from the ribs.

Exhausts

I dont have any reference picture of the exhausts themselves, but i do believe the fumes and sea water would be very harsh on hot metal.
The exhaust main box will show gradient rusting process.
The first stage was to give the box required texture. That was achieved by dubing the MMD green putty using hard brush. Than i pressed some indents with pin.
Painted flat brown.

This is the first stage. Next will be salt treatment
Stay tuned.

I didnt like the area around the hatch in the wooden deck. It looks to basic.
I used the part of the PE deck to replace it.
First i cut out all the slats leaving some of the wood for strength.
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/5...5002ds2.th.jpg

The area where the PE covers the wood was sanded down 0,5mm.

Siara 03-24-08 09:48 AM

Thank You guys!

I done some more deck work. Comparing the 3 decks i have now im trying to build one - that has all the best features out of all of them. Its a lot of work, and the wooden deck is so delicate i need to be extra carefull where i plant my hobby knife next. It can snap at any moment- but im enjoying it, as it brings the new challenge in my so far standard modelers life. This is the first time im adding so much extras, and im glad You like it.

Take the perfectly good wooden deck:
http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/2...p001zy0.th.jpg

...and perfectly good Modelbrass deck:

Mix it all up, cut and scribble:

More hatches on the stern section.
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/7...s001op9.th.jpghttp://img141.imageshack.us/img141/7...s003jf6.th.jpg

Because theyre just single hatches, and probably constant opening and closing aswell as threading on them made them stand out from flat surface of the deck i decided on fixing them to the top of the deck.
First i needed to sand them domn a bit. Modelbrass deck is quiet thick.
http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/9...s005gp5.th.jpg
On top is the sanded hatch.

The forward hatch needed the cuts because the slats didnt line up.
http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/7...s009ta2.th.jpg

The other hatch lined up perfectly, and no woodwork was required.
http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/3...s010cd8.th.jpg

And the stern section as for today:
