And with it comes the fires. Epping Forest is on fire with over 100 firemen attending, I really feel for those chaps. The fire is about 10 - 15 minutes walk from me and the smoke is bad enough here. God bless and keep you safe :salute:

Maybe all the fatalists are right, the apocalypse is here.

Tommorrows forecast for the northern hemisphere:

A Coronal mass ejection will finally reach the earth and put us out of our misery.

In other news, Man saves dog from a creep with Peanut butter, story after the break.

*goes into an erection pill commercial*

I got the news nailed!

London Fire Brigade have dealt with over 460 grass fires so far this month! :o

I know on the back of an estate near where I used to live in my teens kids used to deliberately set fire to the dry grass, but discarded cigarettes are another main contributary factor. It was being discussed on Jeremy Vine's show today - one listener texted in that in hot and dry weather she makes sure to take a small bottle with some water in to ensure her cigarette is extinguished. Jezza just said "what do you do with it when it's not hot or dry?". :har:

Think I saw a fire engine fly past me when I was on my way home last night :hmm2: but the state I was in it could've been anything :-?

Just a a curiosity of mine, but is this heatwave unprecidented for the country?

Consider yourselves lucky, you never had to dig your truck out of 3 feet (roughly a meter) of snow, and trudge your way to work at 25 mph. over unplowed, icy, unsalted roads.

The hot can be cured by an air conditioner, try a blizzard.

Man up, I thought you Brits had stiff upper lips?:O:

Last real long heatwave was the summer of 76 and that was a scorcher. We get the odd few days and maybe a week before it all breaks down but this one is set for another week bringing it up to three weeks now. The radio today reported a estimate of 700 odd people killed by it so far.

Swap our heat for your snow any day.

*Handshake*

Now we have to ask the powers that be.

You might get a Hurricane Sandy type thing too, (read the fine print)

2 weeks without power in the winter, no heat, you will love the heat!:har:

You can always move here, we got alot of stupid spray tan wannabe Jersey shore cast members to laugh at. We cook, and freeze, best of both worlds!

Rail lines buckling, roads melting, wide fires, people dying from the heat.

Met office thinks it will go all the way through to September!
