Oberon what you said earlier about the firearm, it appears now it was a converted replica and the only shots fired in the "shootout" were by the police, CO19 are apparently saying an officer fired two shots and one of those hit his colleague.

Look Tribesman,I want to end this petty feud, its obvious we have VERY different views here and they should really be kept private, well the ones that seem to inflame people the most, religion, race, politics etc.
Whats more important are these shocking events tonight.
Deal?

So,who still thinks this is nothing and just me exagerating?,because to be honest i'm getting a bit scared now,and no doubt many others are.It is clear the police are unable to do anything here, they are being routed every time the rioters attack
At a guess I would say there is a fair chance that it is just your age telling, to me these occurances are nothing new, nothing shocking and nothing surprising.
They are sad, but that is about it.

My age?! what on earth do you mean? :o
Well I can tell you now, that I have NEVER witnessed events like these in my entire life, and my mother said she hasnt either. The scale is staggering. No,I would think these riots are now unprecedented in Britain.

Night folks.

See you all in hell tomorrow :nope:
Hope they manage to stem the flow.

Wait a minute,it IS tomorrow! *sigh*

It means exactly what it says.

Exactly.

Not in the slightest, you don't have to go back far at all to find bigger more widespread and more destructive ones. But if you want to go back before very recent times you can find hundreds of examples where property damage was immense and hundreds of people were killed.

What's up with London.

Seems they want to burn it down. Just read a small article, sounds bad, but don't see it making much news. Report said it started over police shootings, but the larger masses are joining in over the economy, cut to social programs, etc...

Just how bad is it....

AJ94CAP 08-08-11 08:04 PM

It's making news here on the east coast. I'm not sure but the pictures and video is looking pretty ugly over there across the pond.

Looks like there is already a thread on this subject.

I see,i'm not old enough to remember.

Could you give me a list of events in British history where they were comparable to what we are witnessing this very moment?,as far as the speed and scale of it all is concerned.I am not interested in facts concerning casualty figures as there hasnt been any deaths in these riots yet other than the loser that got shot with the police.I am mainly focusing here on the general levels of anarchy and damage around the country.I may decide to look them up and 'educate' myself.I know there was the so called 'winter of discontent' but I dont know enough about that in order to make a valid comment.

Paul Riley 08-08-11 08:49 PM

Its becoming very serious now, multiple flare ups around the country, with the latest in Liverpool, however police report only minor disturbances here, much smaller than the chaos erupting all around London.Scores of buildings, shops and vehicles have been completely gutted, shops and residences looted, with around 20 officers already hospitalised over the last 48 hours IIRC.On many occasions the police have been completely overwhelmed resulting in a rout. They desperately need reinforcements!.We need troops on the streets now,if only to bolster the at times wavering police lines.

:nope:
