Ordered up Sh5 today after waiting to see how things were going with it for a bit.

Name: Chris
Age: 46
Location: Whangarei, New Zealand. Born in Canada moved to NZ in 2001
Occupation: Department of Corrections, Community Probation and Psychological Services.

Was in at the ground floor of SH3, skipped sh4 (was lost in the lands of an MMO) and now back for SH5. Played some SH2 or 1 (not sure) on a buddies PC way back when. Carpenter by trade but gave it up to get into my new career. Still love building but needed a change.
Main hobby would of been travelling, but that got knocked on the head a bit when I got married then a few years later a son. Happily working and living the good life in New Zealand with my wife and son :)

Photo of me my wife took. My reaction is in regards to her pointing the camera at me, she decided to make a Xmas greeting from it ...
Was the only one I had of me on photobucket.

Hope people see the humour and not take offence. Will remove if deemed in bad taste for this thread.

Yep at the bridge. Foggy, raining and a drunk driver being chased by the HPs. I was 13.

Please ask him. You never know. I have had a hard time locating any of my Dads old friends.

Seeing all those old boats is a great memory. Even then I wanted a big model I could radio control. Now I have a bunch including a Gato.

Kiwi that's a great Xmas card!:DL

Anyways.. even though I've been a member here since 02 I spend most of my time lurking. Subsim is the best place to look for info on any and all naval warfare games/sims. I think we can all agree on that

First joined here when SH2 was on the horizon and lots of folks were worked up over at Wolfpack League. I was in 6th Flot Hundius there. Oh the hours we spent trying to get that to work good...after the MP patch was released.

Ex RCN stoker here (8 years) Victoria. Currently live in Edmonton,Alberta...for about 21 years now.. GO OILERS! I think I saw someone post that earlier..hehe

FedEx guy Extrordinair (ground Ops) 21 years, all in YEGA
51 years old as of last monday (March 22)

Oh, and here's a pic of me and "the wife".. 14 yr old Senegal parrot who thinks she runs the show:

Hello Hello, I've been gaming since as long as I can remember.

My first sub game was sub hunt, on the intellivision.

I play all kinds of games, but particularly enjoy sims. WWII Combat Flight sims (IL-2 and the like), WWII Sub sims (SH3,4,and now 5), and a few racing sims/games (more game than sim).

I have my own website devoted to gaming. You can check it out here:

http://www.theblackfedora.com

I'm always looking for contributing authors so if you would like to write and get published on the web, shoot me an email at webmaster@theblackfedora.com

If your interested in IL-2 you can join me over at II/JG-53 squad here:

http://www.freewebs.com/jagdgeschwader53/

Now if only I could figure out how to change my login name here. . . .

Magnus from Denmark here. I study history at Copenhagen University.

I'm 26 years old and live with my girlfriend in Copenhagen. Currently looking for a job to supplement my grant.

Got introduced to subsimming by SH3. Been playing computer games for as long as I can remember. My earliest gaming memory is of my father showing me an edutainment game he got me from one of his business trips to Germany called "Kinderkomp" on 5.25" floppy disks. This was on his old 8086 with 16 colours :D

Have had a computer ever since. My favourite games series is the Total War series. Played them all except for Medieval: Total War. Also play FPS'es to get my adrenaline fix.

I love hard rock classics, Stones, Motorhead, AC/DC and new and old punk rock and hardcore punk music. Even played in an (admittedly pretty bad) punk band which toured Europe several times.

I'm pretty active at the Total War community TW Center too (under the same name) but I've never experienced a community such as Subsim. The percentage of really nice, helpful and mature people here is higher than I've seen on any other forum. :salute:

Welcome back!
Oh no! Behind you is the base of one of those horrid T-Walls.
I was hoping never to see another one of those. heh.

I was at Camp Cropper, Baghdad for 1 1/2 years. Where were you at over there?

Sailor Steve 03-27-10 01:16 PM

COMPLETED SH3 and SH4??? How do you do that? Finish a career all the way through the war?

Even if I managed that (which I haven't in five years) I still would never consider a dynamic sim like these to be 'completed'.

But don't get me wrong, that's just me.:sunny:

My name is Steve. I'm a (seasoned and nearly worn out) software engineer in Asheville, North Carolina. My first subsim was Silent Service on a commodore 64 (if my memory serves me) but I left the genre for 20+ years, until discovering the SH series in late December. Now I've become obsessed.

My first real computer was an IBM 8088. I purchased 4 mb of ram to upgrade my 486 circa 1994, for $212.00. I'm glad I did not purchase the 9 GB Micropolis hard drive for $4000.00. I suppose my point is I don't bother trying to keep up with the latest in hardware. Currently I'm on a 3 year old box that runs sh3 great, but my sh4 framerates are a little low (the main reason I'm not dashing out there to get sh5).

I'm a huge fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Tom Petty, Skynyrd, Bruce, and Alice in Chains. I'm waiting for the ice to give way to some nice weather so I can hop back on my 07 Road Glide and put on about another 15 K miles of back country roads again this summer. But in the mean time, subsim.com rules!

edit: I should mention too, I was an ASW sensor operator in the USN back in the 80's. P3C Orion flight crew. I play a 5 string Music Man Stingray bass and a Gretch Jet 6 string. Here's a shot of me with my sweetheart in the driveway:

I am also from asheville, although in Atlanta right now. Was just up there this weekend and WISH I still had a bike!!!

I was at Cropper also for a while. What your looking at is and escort mission from the Flying Man to Compond V and Remberence 2. Life was easy for us at Cropper then we got transfered to Grizzly :( No PX, Star Card, USO just surrounded by nothing. Going to Balad (motarrittaville)was the only upbeat misson we ever got.
