@ leo
Good job, but don't let it consume you. Take your time, no rush, remember, this is a hobby ;) @sqk7744 Best fuel conservation is acutally at 2/3rds, not 1/3rd. OR in other words, around 8 to 10 kts. If your traveling at 1/3rd your acutally wasting fuel. Use the navigator's function, max distance at current speed. Do this for 5 kts, 8kts and 9 and 10 kts. You'll see the difference. |

Seriously, though, I'm looking forward greatly to the next version of this most excellent mod    |
okay maybe a little more time than Monday
I am using the new physics program I bought and hand and eye adjusting each individual wave state for smooth as possable transitions and reducing and or eliminating all strange effects, "IE" jelly motions and what not and keeping an eye on "FPS" although with my PC I get very little notice of changes but trying to optimize as much as possable all stages and effects and physics.
Ducimus will be the first tester when I feel I am done with this because he is the one that sent me on this path but if he is cool with it then that's it for this MOD once all the new changes have been posted and I set up a new ready to use download! I have to finish helping Redwine with DIE Slowly and some other stuff for the game after that. And I want to play my game as well. This will be my last post here until the final release is ready for everyone! Just wanted to do a quick advisment on progress and work details being compleated. |
Wow, I'v been gone awhile and I return and suddenly, the Ocean looks soooo much better. I can't wait to download the update.

Thanks for your hard work, LV. The water doesn't look/act like Mercury anymore!

I'm in heaven again!
Last week, hating myself, I tearfully unloaded Living Breathing Ocean and loaded up TMaru for a spin. I proceeded to have the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on. Then the remorse (OK, remourse for east of the pond) set in. I missed that real ocean but was hooked on Trigger Maru. I felt so conflicted I pinged a destroyer in the fog, thinking it was a merchant.
Now I can be at peace once more. What am I saying, this is WAR! You guys amaze me! But please, after releasing your latest masterpieces, take some time off to play. That's the only way you'll know what a blast Silent Hunter 4 is to play, thanks to you modders! Leo, Ducimus, Captain, you're geniuses and SH4 would be a shadow of itself without you! Thanks for the hundreds of hours you've spent improving the game. Now go play some! |
One question.
how can i set a heavy storm with the editor ? i tried using 15 m/s winds, clouds and rain , but the sea state and waves are not very big compared with sh3. i´m not sure if the sea state is normal for the sh4 engine or is limited by a problem. or i apply incorrectly the mod :88) |
Other then the setting in the scene.dat, the other responsible part for the 15 kt waves your used to in SH3 is the sim.cfg.
The two wave attun settings at the top. Adusting that to SH3 settings (much larger numbers) was one of the very first things i *tried*, and failed at. The mechanics ingame just dont support it. Elco and fishing boats would go up in smoke and sink, submarines couldnt stay on the surface, batteries never fully recharged, it's just ugly. On top of that, the wave sizes mess with visual sensors and those would need to be retuned. All that is one more reason Leo's mod is really breaking new ground. |
