I think I've stumbled upon a quite neat "discovery":
As you might know, sun glare and lense flares are only available to nVidia users. I have an ATi (X1650 Pro), and the other day I went to Bridge view at dawn...the sun had just risen and was in nearly eye level from the Bridge...with its glare and a nice camera flair in their full glory! But it was gone sooner than I could realize what I was seeing and press Ctrl+F11, the whole thing only lasted for a second or two! I know an older version of ROW had glare for ATIs, but with the new one something has broken. Howerver, this chance finding shows that if we look into the matter more deeply, we might actually achieve constant glare for us second-rate (in UBI's eyes) ATi users!
And since I don't remember if I mentioned it before (shame on me if I didn't), all my best wishes go to Leo for a speedy recovery.

I used to have an ATI card. One day I decided that I was going to get a lense flare and sun halo if it killed me. After many hours of fiddling with settings I was able to get what you have, a very short lived lense flare. But that was it, couldn't get any better than that.

So I gave up let, Nvidia and Ubi walk all over me, and now I have an Nvida 8800GTS card!

Just notice that if you remove the "underwater_disp_map.dds" you are allso loosing the effect I created for ROW of water running on your periscope lens when diving and submerging. I know the effect is abit exaggerated, but the file is used for 2 things by the SH4-engine so it was a compromise between nice lens effect and wobbly underwater scene.

Well, nVidia and Ubi will pry my ATi off my dead, stiffening fingers (or when I finally get a new computer)! :D

Didn't do any fiddling though, unmodified ROW files, and a sun glare out of the blue! I think Hawk tried to get the lens flair and sunglare back for his ATi with the newer ROW files, but he also failed.

Dr. we have the same ATI card, and I certainly do miss the sunglare, especially while watching a spectacular sunrise courtesy of ROW!

I, too, was desperate to get those to work until i gave up for it seems to be an hard coded issue or worst...
And it bugs me, i can tell you since i'm the one who designed the lightnings for ROW :nope: lol

I was fortune myself to witness sucha rare event like your, I was to excited and then I realized I need a screen shot, but by then it was to late.

Interesting, that a lot of people have seen a flare (for just a brief time) at one point or another, it almost sounds like a camera angle or sun angle related possibly. (for teh ATI peoples like me)

Get better soon Leo... :)

Gentlemen,
I hope some one can help, I know patch 1.4 is only just out, and folks may need some time to adjust their mods, believe me I am grateful for all the work the mnod team has done.

Over the weekend I tried to follow the instructions pertaining to which of the ROW, TM, NSM and RSRD mods I can combine and in what order.

However I did not succeed, instead my SH4 crashed without opening. So now I'm back to square one.

Can some one tell me which of the mods I can and should use and in what order and also identify which I cab delete as obolete or incorporated into one of the other mods?

Not lazy I tried but now I'm completely muddled up

Rascal, I think the general consensus is wait until Leo has looked at ROW post patch 1.4, I have TM 1.7.1 and RSRD (TM 1.7 version) only installed at this stage and will wait until ROW is back up and compatible. A lot of the stuff you have there is incorporated into TM or ROW anyway, so most will be obsolete, but I'd just hang ten for a little bit.

Ok Thanks for the advise, has anyone heard from LeoV, he used to be regular as clockwork but seems to have been missing of late I really hope he's ok

Leo had a medical procedure done last week, so he's most certainly still resting up. We all miss him, and I'm sure he'll be back as soon as he's able.;)

The General 12-03-07 05:46 AM

Amen to that!

Hope you feel better soon Dave

Heh...from this little time I've "known" Leo, my guess is he'll be back even before he's fully able...no matter how many times we tell him to relax and take it easy ;)
