UAE evacuates 188 Palestinians from Gaza in latest humanitarian mission

Quote:

The UAE has evacuated an additional 188 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, in co-ordination with the World Health Organisation, in its latest humanitarian operation in support of the besieged enclave.

They include 81 patients – half of whom are children - set to receive treatment for cancer and other serious injuries. They were joined by 107 family members on arrival in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

They were flown to the capital from Ramon Airport in Israel after crossing through the Karam Abu Salem border.

The crucial assistance is in line with President Sheikh Mohamed’s directive for treatment to be provided in UAE hospitals to 1,000 wounded Palestinian children and a further 1,000 cancer patients.

Mapping how IsraelÂ’s land grabs are reshaping the occupied West Bank

IsraelÂ’s continuing military assault in Jenin and Tulkarem seeks to suppress resistance and tighten control amid a demographic crisis.

While global attention remains fixed on IsraelÂ’s war on Gaza, Israel is rapidly redrawing the map of the occupied West Bank.

On January 21, just two days after a ceasefire took effect in Gaza, the Israeli military intensified its assault across the occupied West Bank, particularly in the northern regions. Israeli bulldozers have razed entire residential areas, forcibly expelling at least 40,000 people from their homes.

For the first time since the second Intifada, Israeli forces have reintroduced tank incursions and air attacks into the West Bank, part of a systematic Israeli strategy to change the geography of the West Bank, paving the way for full annexation.

Since 1967, Israel has militarily occupied the West Bank, subjecting Palestinians to checkpoints, arbitrary arrests, home demolitions, land seizures, settlement expansion and frequent raids, severely restricting every aspect of their lives.

The West Bank is home to approximately 3.3 million Palestinians. It is divided into 11 governorates, with Hebron, or al-Khalil in Arabic, being the most populous at about 842,000 residents. Jerusalem follows with 500,000, Nablus with 440,000, Ramallah and el-Bireh with 377,000 and Jenin with 360,000.

About 700,000 Israelis live in illegal settlements on Palestinian land.

Escalating attacks before October 7

Deadly attacks on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have persisted for years.

Since systematic documentation began in 2008, UN data shows that at least 1,896 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers.

By October 6, 2023 – just hours before the Al-Aqsa Flood operation – the death toll for 2023 had already risen to 198, surpassing 2022’s total of 154 and making it the deadliest year on record at the time.

Since October 7, 2023, the number of attacks has skyrocketed.

Over the past 17 months, more than 900 Palestinians have been killed in the occupied West Bank. More than half of them were from Jenin and Tulkarem.

Amnesty International described this violence as “brutal”, citing unlawful killings, the disproportionate use of deadly force, and the deliberate denial of medical care to the wounded – all unfolding as global attention remains fixated on Gaza.

Settler violence: An informal weapon of displacement

Settler attacks have become a daily occurrence in the West Bank, especially in rural areas near settlement outposts. Settlers have blocked roads to Palestinian communities, hindering access to essential services and livelihoods. In some instances, they have destroyed water sources, cutting off vital resources for Palestinian herding communities.

Illegal seizure of Palestinian land

A June 2024 report by HaMoked, an Israeli human rights organisation, showed that Israel has rapidly intensified its control over the West Bank since October 2023, moving towards full annexation.

In 2024, 24,700 dunams (6,100 acres or 2,470 hectares) were classified as “state land” by Israeli authorities, surpassing the 23,000 dunams annexed between 2000 and 2023. Additionally, 68 illegal settlement outposts were recognised by Israel and provided with infrastructure, deepening Israeli control.

SmotrichÂ’s transfer of planning and demolition powers has accelerated the forced displacement of Palestinians. His administration works with settlers to seize land, demolish Palestinian homes, and recognise illegal outposts, further entrenching settlement control.

According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), displacement has doubled in recent months, with the latest military operation triggering the largest wave of Palestinian displacement in the West Bank since 1967, with more than 40,000 people being forced to flee their homes.

These figures point to a strategy of dismantling Palestinian communities, as their presence in the West Bank poses a demographic challenge to Israel.

In addition, since October 2023, the Israeli military has imposed severe movement restrictions on Palestinians, with 793 checkpoints by November 2024, 60 percent of which are in Hebron, Nablus, and Ramallah – hindering medical access, disrupting trade and isolating communities.
Open calls for annexation and displacement

Despite rapid settlement expansion, Israel faces a key demographic challenge, as the birthrate among the Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Israel remains higher than among Israelis living in Israel and the occupied West Bank, although population numbers are roughly equal now.

This strategy is evident in statements by Israeli officials. In March 2025, Defense Minister Israel Yoav Katz defended illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank as “essential for protecting Israeli cities”, while media figures like Gideon Dokov called the forced removal of Palestinians from all of Palestine “the only humanitarian solution”, labelling Palestinians as “a murderous nation”.

The “Fighting for Life” campaign echoed this message with the slogan “No Future in Palestine”, encouraging what they euphemistically called “voluntary emigration”.

Meanwhile, Meir Masri, professor of geopolitics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said on social media platform X that the annexation of the West Bank is “the greatest Zionist achievement since 1967”, calling it a historic opportunity that must not be missed.

In contrast, a policy paper for 2025–2026, published by the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) warned that unilateral annexation would deepen Israel’s global isolation, push it towards a one-state reality where Jews risk becoming a minority, and contradict core Zionist ideology.

Hamas says it accepts a new ceasefire proposal but Israel makes counter-offer

Quote:

The Hamas militant group said Saturday it has accepted a new Gaza ceasefire proposal from mediators Egypt and Qatar, but Israel said it has made a counter-proposal in “full coordination” with the third mediator, the United States.

Egypt early in the week made a proposal to get the troubled ceasefire back on track, following Israel’s surprise resumption of fighting. It was not immediately clear whether the proposal changed before Khalil al-Hayyah, the leader of Hamas in Gaza, announced it had been accepted.

Early in the week, an Egyptian official described the proposal to The Associated Press, saying Hamas would release five living hostages, including an American-Israeli, from Gaza in return for Israel allowing aid into the territory and a weekslong pause in fighting. Israel would release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief media on the closed-door talks.

On Saturday, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave no details about Israel’s counter-proposal, which it said was offered after Netanyahu held consultations on Friday.

Israel a week and a half ago ended its ceasefire with Hamas by launching a surprise wave of strikes that killed hundreds of people. The White House blamed Hamas for the renewed fighting.

Israel has vowed to escalate the war until Hamas returns the 59 hostages it still holds — 24 of them believed to be alive. Israel also wants Hamas to give up power, disarm and send its leaders into exile. On Saturday, Israel widened its ground operations in Gaza's southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt.

Hamas has said it will only release the remaining captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, a lasting ceasefire and an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

Frustrated by the threat to remaining hostages in Gaza, families and others rallied again Saturday evening to call for a deal that would bring everyone home.

“The price of your war is the life of the hostages!” some protesters chanted in Tel Aviv. Minor scuffles broke out with police.

“War will not bring our hostages home, it will kill them,” Naama Weinberg, cousin of deceased hostage Itay Svirsky, told a weekly gathering of families in Tel Aviv.

The war in Gaza was triggered by Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack into Israel, in which Palestinian militants killed some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted 251.

Israel’s retaliatory offensive has killed over 50,000 people, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, which does not say how many were civilians or combatants. Israel’s bombardment and ground operations have caused vast destruction and at their height displaced some 90% of Gaza’s population of over 2 million people.

Early this month, Israel again cut off all supplies to Gaza to pressure Hamas to accept new terms to the ceasefire that started in mid-January.

Israel had balked at entering negotiations over the truce's second phase, which were meant to begin in early February. Under the agreement, phase two was meant to bring the release of the remaining 24 living hostages, an end to the war and full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

Israeli PM Netanyahu vows to pressure Hamas after ceasefire proposal

Quote:

JERUSALEM/CAIRO (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged on Sunday to step up pressure on Hamas in Gaza while continuing negotiations to secure the release of hostages and working to implement U.S. President Donald Trump's "voluntary emigration" plan.

He said cabinet had agreed to increase pressure on Hamas, which says it has agreed to a ceasefire proposal from the mediators Egypt and Qatar.

Netanyahu rejected assertions that Israel, which has resumed its bombardment of Gaza after a two-month truce and sent troops back into the enclave, was not negotiating, saying "we are conducting it under fire, and therefore it is also effective".

"We see that there are suddenly cracks," he said in a video statement issued on Sunday.

On Saturday, Hamas said it had agreed to a proposal that security sources said included the release of five Israeli hostages each week, but it ruled out laying down its arms as Israel has demanded.

On Sunday, the first day of the Muslim Eid al-Fitr holiday, health authorities in Gaza said at least 20 people, including several children, had been killed in Israeli strikes. Nine were killed in a single tent in the southern city of Khan Yunis, they said.

Since Israel resumed its attacks in Gaza on March 18, hundreds of Palestinians have been killed and tens of thousands have been forced to evacuate areas in northern Gaza where they had returned following the ceasefire agreement in January.

Netanyahu said Israel was demanding that Hamas lay down its arms and said its leaders would be allowed to leave Gaza. He gave no detail on how long Israeli troops would remain in the enclave but repeated that Hamas' military and government capacities must be crushed.

"We will ensure general security in the Gaza Strip and enable the implementation of the Trump plan, the voluntary emigration plan," he said. "That is the plan, we do not hide it, we are ready to discuss it at any time."

Trump originally proposed moving the entire 2.3 million population of Gaza to countries including Egypt and Jordan and developing the Gaza Strip as a U.S.-owned resort. However, no country has agreed to take in the population and Israel has since said that any departures by Palestinians would be voluntary.

Hamas Calls for Global Armed Uprising Against Gaza Relocation Plan

A senior Hamas official has called on supporters worldwide to rise up against a controversial plan backed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump to forcibly remove Gaza’s population.

In a statement released Monday, Hamas spokesperson Sami Abou Zouhri urged “anyone capable of using a weapon, anywhere in the world, to take action.”

“Don’t leave unused a single explosive, bullet, knife, or stone. Let everyone break their silence,” he said, as reported by Digi24, citing AFP.

The call comes amid heightened tensions following reports that Israel is preparing to implement a U.S.-endorsed initiative that would expel Gaza’s 2.4 million residents and deny them the right to return.

Though Trump has since downplayed his earlier remarks, saying he “won’t impose” the plan, Hamas continues to treat it as an imminent threat.

Hamas condemns relocation and occupation plans
Netanyahu said over the weekend that Israel is open to allowing Hamas leaders to leave Gaza—if the group disarms entirely. He added that post-war, Israel would maintain security control over Gaza and work to implement the Trump plan.

Zouhri’s statement framed the proposal as a “diabolical” combination of “massacres and starvation,” and called for global armed resistance in response.

Trump’s proposal to remove Gaza residents surfaced shortly after his return to the White House in January 2025. Despite widespread international condemnation, elements of the plan appear to be moving forward in Israel.

International and regional concern mounting
The threat of renewed violence and global calls to arms from Hamas have drawn concern from governments and security agencies. Hamas is designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, Israel, and several other countries.

The group's call for violent action could have far-reaching implications, particularly as regional tensions remain high and global diplomatic efforts to end the Gaza conflict have largely stalled.

I've a better idea.....why don't the rats crawl out of the sewers they are hiding in, free those innocent hostages they hide behind and try fighting like men.

Israel proposes new ceasefire in Gaza and outlines its conditions, Reuters reports

Quote:

Israel may agree to a new ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. However, for this to happen, Hamas must release approximately half of the hostages, Reuters informs.

According to unnamed Israeli officials, Israel has proposed a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for 40-50 days.

This proposal, according to Reuters, involves the release of approximately half of the 24 Hamas hostages believed to still be alive. They have been held captive by militants for nearly 18 months.

It is worth noting that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu only yesterday, on March 30, promised to intensify pressure on Hamas. However, he stated that diplomacy will also continue.

Netanyahu expressed confidence that sustained military pressure is the best way to secure the release of the hostages.

He also reiterated Israel's demands for Hamas's disarmament, although militants have rejected these calls as a "red line" they will not cross.

The prime minister clarified that Hamas leaders would be allowed to leave the Gaza Strip as part of a broader settlement, which would include proposals from US President Donald Trump for the "voluntary emigration" of Palestinians.

Ceasefire between Israel and Hamas

The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began on January 19. The agreements stipulated that Israel would release detained Palestinians to the militants, and in return, they would free the hostages.

However, the ceasefire did not last long. Due to Hamas delaying the release of the hostages, Israel resumed its attacks on militants in the Gaza Strip.

GENOCIDE AND WAR CRIMES CONTINUE !

Yet another Israeli war crime is buried in the sand as the world looks away

Fifteen Palestinian paramedics and first responders were executed in Rafah. Indifference is all they get.

Every day, Mohammad Bahloul gambled with his own life in the hope of saving others. As a medic in the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), he would step into the unknown each workday, never knowing if he would return to his family.

A week before Eid al-Fitr, Mohammad was dispatched to RafahÂ’s Tal as-Sultan neighbourhood to recover the wounded and dead in the aftermath of Israeli attacks. Shortly after he and a team of medics and first responders arrived on the scene, Israeli ground troops encircled the area and closed off all the roads in and out. As the PRCS lost contact with its team, rumours began to spread across Rafah that those stuck inside would be massacred.

During the attempts of rescue teams to reach the area, UN workers witnessed civilians trying to flee being shot dead. On March 29, they were finally able to reach the area where the PRCS teams were attacked. There, the teams discovered the mangled remains of ambulances and UN and Civil Defence vehicles as well as a single body – that of Muhammad’s colleague, Anwar Alatar.

On March 30, the first day of Eid al-Fitr, they went back and uncovered 14 more bodies buried in the sand in a mass grave. All of them were still dressed in their uniforms and wearing gloves. Among them were Mohammad and his colleagues Mustafa Khafaja, Ezzedine ShaÂ’at, Saleh Moammar, Rifaat Radwan, Ashraf Abu Labda, Mohammad al-Hila, and Raed al-Sharif.

The killing of these paramedics is not an isolated incident. Israel has been systematically targeting medical and rescue workers as part of its genocidal war – a war against life itself in Gaza. Only in Gaza, medical uniforms and ambulances do not offer protection, which international law affords. Only in Gaza, medical uniforms and ambulances can mark people as targets for execution.

Despite the Israeli army’s attempt to cover up its crime by burying it in the sand, evidence speaks for what happened. A statement released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health on March 30 said the Israeli forces carried out an execution and that some of the victims were handcuffed and had injuries to the head and chest. The chief of the UN humanitarian affairs office in Palestine, Jonathan Whittall, said the paramedics and first responders were killed “one by one”.

Israel, of course, used the familiar playbook of denial and obfuscation. It first claimed the paramedics were members of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Then it claimed that its soldiers fired on the ambulances because they were “advancing suspiciously toward” them.

Western governments continue to be actively complicit in the genocide by sending weapons and inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu despite the warrant for his arrest issued by the International Criminal Court.

How much longer will the world watch this genocidal violence in silence? There seems to be no end to the barbarity and crimes. The executions of these medics should have been a turning point, a moment of reckoning. Instead, they are yet another testament to the impunity granted to the Zionist apartheid regime.

May the souls of those who died in Tal as-Sultan rest in peace and may the political leaders of the Western world rest in shame.
