Somehow that "go to first unread post" button doesn't always know that I've looked at a page and not assimilated any of it yet:oops:

Hope everything went well and you're back to break-dancing in no time.

Hey guys,
I have quick question about ROW,I love it,but my sky looks blocky, were the colors come together it isn't smooth,I have a pic, hopefully you can see what I am talking about...Thanks

Defiance 11-27-07 07:22 PM

Hiya,
Welcome Aboard the forums :)

Blocky, As-in horizontal lines ??

As if the different colours of the sky don't seem to merge very smoothly (blend together maybe a better description) ??

If that's what you mean i also get it but it's more visable underwater for me

If so maybe when 1.4 patch/mods are updated some kind modder could add better blending (maybe limited to number of shadings i guess so dunno)

Anyways post back if i'm off the beam with some pc specs (cpu/ram/vid etc) maybe easier to help if your seeing actual blocks and not linear lines

Anyways Happy Hunting

Have Fun

Ciao

Exactly right,they dont merge smoothly..

This won't stop me from using it,i still love this mod:D

Defiance 11-27-07 07:49 PM

Hiya,
I assumed it was the merging, I am not a modder but am messing and wetting my toes paddling into stuff so to speak

If there are a limited number of "bands" or Linear lines allowed to create the sky top to bottom so to speak, I very much doubt a smoother better blended sky could be got

But if there are no limited or a least layers that can be released then well in the future we may have a very smooth blended sky area and even moreso a finer blended under water view :)

May try and look into it

Have Fun

Ohh btw you know now you can call yourself a sh4 addict

I hope not! ;)

It's because the sh4-engine makes a transition between the sky-texture and ocean-texture.

I tried as much as I could to make it go away with the enviroment textures for ROW,but the two textures changes colours diferently from each other during the day, sunset and sunrise so it's not an easy task, try enabling 2-4xAnitialiasing with your gfx-card and enable bloom under options helps a little.

Hell Kriller your visuals are way better that stock and i know you and the gang involved worked your roe off (uk term) to get a plain scenery to what can be only described as frittin awesome :) , The better blending was 1st thing i picked up on when row was sorted

I run sh4 on x8 AA/AF and will look for bloom setting :)

I notice the 1.4 underwater (i turn off light shafts :( lol) the plankton etc is more than before, This kind of stuff i like but maybe slightly ott so maybe a kindly person err no names cough kriller2 cough lol could maybe tone it down a tad ?? :)

Well all's i want is row/tm and assorted minor mods varifyed as 1.4 compatable then i set sail to die err i mean sink loads of tannage he he

Many Thanks for explanation Kriller2

Thanks Deffance  Have you installed patch 1.4 on top of ROW? - You should reinstall SH4 and apply the patch 1.4 and then enable ROW as the last mod, to be sure all is working with the ROW textures.

I did that and my plankton is the same as before.

BTW you don't have to turn off light shafts, try leave it on, it will make the underwater scene look much better.

Defiance 11-27-07 09:21 PM

Hiya :)
I did a fresh install after a manual reg clean then rebooted and applied patch and rebooted

Will wait for TM to be 1.4 compat then have my usual TM/ROW ;)

Installed all of ROW and only ran into one problem so far . . . when the sea conditions were right for sea foam, the hi-rez sea foam turned everything into a permanent slide show. Before the patch, it would do this for a few seconds as the hi-rez textures loaded and then it would run smooth as before for the rest of the game. Other than that no problems as I just arrived at Hokkaido from Pearl Harbor.

I also went ahead and installed NSM 3.3 again but haven't engaged any merchants yet. If it doesn't like 1.4 I can always uninstall it.

BTW, the International Dateline bug does indeed appear to be squashed. I crossed the 180 degree mark after Midway and created a pretend firing solution and sure enough the torpedo aiming track was still there. Very nice.

Thanks much Sailor Steve;
I wasnt sure anyone would identify the BaronDeKalb which was renamed from the USS St. Louis #2  during the American Civil War i think the historians were all
screaming bloody murder :rotfl:

Of course they picked a great name for this IronClad as the Baron is a fascinating study in his own right and died fighting with his men, which seems to have been all
he lived for in life...

maybe we will get a ironclad mod one day :lmao: imagine seeing one in pearl harbor
as your steaming out :hehe:...

How deep was the DeKalb's keel? How tall were the masts? Just curious for no particular reason in case you mod it into SH4.:rotfl:
