I was traveling on the Irish sea. Between Ireland and Britain.
There was low visibility on the surface, because of bad weather.
So i submerged to conduct hydro sweep, my hydro operator spotted a so called ''merchant''

I surfaced and was heading towards the bearings.
Its a pathetic civilian sail boat...:har: So i went next to it, said hello and went away.

I never target civilian boats. But if it reports my position to the British navy. (leading to my potential death) i sink it :)
Anyways pretty dumb of me to surface next to it. I could have stayed submerged on periscope depth. But is it a legitimate target?
It bears the flag of the British merchant fleet.

It is indeed a target but not the biggest you'll come across.

South of Ireland.

Fired the first torpedo against this small tanker. Torpedo went straight towards target. My torpedo depth was set at only 1m. For some reason it didn't explode.
It was a perfect AOB 90. But i think my range was a little less then 300m. So it hit it. But no detonation out of safety distance. Or maybe it was a dud.

Then i fired the second torpedo in a hurry. Bad angle. But it actually hit.
I used impact settings.

Sunk it, around 3500 grt.

Oh boy. Spotted a convoy, looks like a huge one.
Its gonna be a challenge. i'm used to encounter single merchants without any escorts protecting them.

Weather is very bad. Heavy wind and fog...
I'm also behind or side of the convoy. Not a good spot.
My plan is to surface at a safe distance. Keep tracking the convoy.
Get ahead of it. Attack during the night.

If i'm in front of the convoy. I'm gonna submerge. Trying to get in the middle of the convoy. Shooting a few torpedoes at very close range. Dive very deep and stay hidden.

Following the convoy. And each hour i'm giving a contact report to BDU.
So other uboats can reach the convoy. :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

I'm in no position for the attack. I want to get as close as possible to gather all possible data and find big targets. Its 21h during the night.
Fog and low visibility.
I will move away from the convoy. (now around 2500m from the nearest ship) And try to run ahead of the convoy. Then get in attack position.

If i check the convoy route map. Its that one around GRID AL35. I think its the HX convoy. Because it seems they are coming from the west
(not from the north west) Heading towards the east. And they will also change there course a bit more to the south, when they reach the Rockall Banks i guess.

You got that other convoy route that comes from the north. It should be that convoy i'm seeing. But it doesn't appear that its coming from the north west. I think the convoy route map is an indication not 100% accurate.

Message from BDU: be more aggressive ;)
