Well, it's just a matter of physics. A screw is nothing more than an inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder or cone. A phillips head is one of the simplest secure forms of toque application you can devise, as it is nothing more than opposed levers. It would stand to reason that any alien technology would include such a simple device, or at least something very very close to it. |
